YOGA ON THE BEACH

11 September 2017/in Beach, News, Sport, Yoga

Is there a better place where to practice Yoga than a soft sandy beach with the sea at your feet? The virgin beaches around Dajuma are the perfect place for that. This is what our guests from USA, Brent and Traci decided to do every morning of their stay with us. A good way to start the day!

FISHERMEN’ BOYS PLAYGROUND

24 April 2017/in Beach, Fishing, News

What are the dreams of local fishermen’ chidren? Most of them want to do the same job as their fathers. From their youngest childhood, they like playing in the sea with small boats looking exactly like the ones of their fathers or learning how to surf the waves. This is exactly what the two brothers are doing on the picture but it seems that only one will become a fisherman, the other one looking for being a surf champion!

SWIM ON WEST BEACH

20 March 2017/in Beach, Dajuma, News, Sport, West Bali

We sometimes read reviews stating that it is difficult to swim in the sea around Dajuma.
We have 2 main beaches: on the East side, waves and tides are often strong and only local fishermen, knowing perfectly the tides, can swim in this area to catch lobsters.
On the West side, on the contrary, the beach is well protected by the cape and the waves are just ideal for swimming or practicing sea sports such as body boarding, SUP, surf, kite surf, sailing, kayak.
But of course, like everywhere in the world, it is not recommended to swim in the sea when the weather is stormy, which sometimes happens in the year. To help our guests to safely enjoy sea sports on this West beach, we installed flags which color indicates the status of the sea: yellow means OK, red means Danger. Moreover our beach supervisor Jupry is always happy to help you to go to the sea in the most friendly and safe way.

SUNSET TIME AT DAJUMA BENDEGA

15 November 2016/in Beach, Dajuma, News

Every dusk is a delight at Dajuma with breathtaking sunsets ! The resort being on a cape oriented full west, one can see stunning sunsets from almost any area with different angles. What a show to see the local fishermen pushing their prahos to the sea and preparing themselves to spend the night fishing offshore!
On the picture, the view we have from our brand new Bendega restaurant. Just beautiful!

Children Paradise

25 January 2016/in Beach, Dajuma, Eco-Resort, News, People

Many of our guests tell us that Dajuma is just like a paradise. It is very kind of them to give such an opinion because it was one of the reasons why we decided 15 years ago to establish the resort in this place, at a time West Bali was just ignored by tours operators, guides… and tourists.
But what makes us so happy today is the way children are spending their time in Dajuma: the combination between sea, beach, garden and pool is just perfect for them. The cape at low tide is like a natural aquatic garden where they can explore the underwater life by looking at the volcanic holes visited by fishes, crabs, corals, shrimps and other seaweeds. And for those parents who need to relax and recover from their busy professional life, we offer a baby sitting service.
On the picture, the gracious Mia, a lovely 5 years girl, is dancing with the ocean on the beach, just before sunrise

Dajuma supports sea turtle conservation

28 October 2014/in Beach, Dajuma, Eco-Resort, News

Sea turtle conservation is a real concern  for a long time insofar as their reproduction process is  difficult and subject to various threats : when the turtle comes out from the sea to spawn on the beach, the fragile eggs even buried in the sand are often eaten by errant dogs, cats, birds and sometimes people. Same scenario when the egg comes to maturation : the baby turtle has to join the sea and only 1 out of 1000 will really survive.
On Dajuma beach, nearby our hotel, we are used to have sea turtles spawning every year.  Our staff has trained the villagers to bring the eggs to the Turtle Conservation Program, located a few kilometers from Dajuma. This program  initiated by the WWF fifteen years ago is today sponsored by private firms including Dajuma.
It is headed by I Komang Gunawan (kurmaasih@gmail.com) whose family with successively his grand father and his father has been involved for 3 generations with turtles. Initially turtles’ hunters until 1997, they decided to switch to their conservation with the WWF technical and financial support which ended in 2002.
Today Komang is proud of his contribution to the survival of threatened species such as turtles and on our side we are happy to bring our support to him.
We regularly invite our guests to visit his facilities, and contribute to the development of his center by sponsoring a “turtles nest” which generally counts several tens of eggs. This is what happened a few days ago with a French family who sponsored 60 eggs which should hatch in a few weeks. Needless to say that the emotion was great when Alexander was able to take in his hands these so fragile animals ! Well done guys !

SUP and sea kayak : how to enjoy West Bali from the sea

10 February 2014/in Beach, News, Surfing

Sea kayak is a new activity in Dajuma which completes the already existing sea activities such as the now famous Stand-Up Paddle (SUP), surfing and body-boarding.
Born in Hawaï in the 1960’s, SUP became popular in Bali because it is relatively easy to practice compared with short surf boards . Many of our guests enjoy this relaxing sport activity on the West beach of the resort.
Now they can also enjoy our 3 seats sea kayak and go paddling around Medewi cape. But be careful : contrary to what is believed, sea kayak is a real sport very demanding in terms of effort to deploy!
