OFFSHORE FISHING AT DAJUMA

15 May 2023/in News

With a fishing village a Dajuma stone throw, it is natural to want to fish during your stay with us. This is what happened last week for our loyal customers, the Greg family (George and his son Ben). Starting at 6 am on a traditional Praho with our beach supervisor Jupri, they returned a few hours later with 2 beautiful fish called Diamond Trevally or Mirror Fish as shown in the photo. They said that was the beginner’s luck. They gave one of the fish to Jupry and for the other one, they asked our chief to cook him for their dinner. Well done guys for this beautiful fishing!

8 May 2023/in News

Practicing yoga at Puri Dajuma offers numerous benefits for both the mind and body. The peaceful surroundings, with the sound of the ocean waves and lush greenery, create an ideal atmosphere for relaxation and introspection.
Since last week, we offer to our guests a free yoga session every Thursday at 11 am. Led by our yogi Tini who is well-versed in various yoga styles, it will  help improving your flexibility, balance, and strength while also reducing stress, anxiety, and depression.
Yoga sessions are conducted in an open-air shala overlooking the Indian Ocean, offering a breathtaking view that enhances the overall yoga experience. By adding this new free activity to the existing ones (floral decorations, cooking class, wood carving, Balinese dances, body boarding, etc.) we are happy to offer our guests an immersive experience that combines yoga practice with healthy meals, spa treatments, and cultural excursions.
Overall, practicing yoga at Puri Dajuma can have a profound impact on your physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being. Just try it next time you visit us: you will not be disappointed!

A BEAUTIFUL TRADITION IN BALI: THE WOOD CARVING

1 May 2023/in News

Among all the on-site activities offered by the hotel (yoga, surfing, body-boarding, fishing, sailing, trekking, floral decoration, cooking classes, traditional dances, massages, etc.) there is one particularly appreciated by our guests: the wood carving.
On the photo our carver, very surrounded by an assistance of adults and children, all captivated by the precision of the gestures and the result obtained, for example these beautiful Balinese doors. The young boy in front of the carver is also carving, by imitating the gestures of the carver. Try it the next time you visit us: you won’t be disappointed!

RETREAT GROUP FROM LATVIA

27 February 2023/in News

Last week, we welcomed a very nice retreat group from Latvia for 6 nights, made up of 16 participants guided by Ilona. Among many activities, the particularly appreciated respiratory therapy. They gave good feedback, everyone loved their stay, one of the ladies even said that they were treated like queens. Such touching words are the best reward for our staff!

APPRENTICE FISHERMEN

13 February 2023/in News

It is very moving to see the children of our fishing neighbors playing in the giant pots of our cape. With the means at hand, they build magnificent models which sail perfectly identically to the prahos of their fathers. They proceed in two stages: in the giant pots they test the new models and when they come out victorious in the tests, they are then put in the sea. Well played guys!

GILIMANUK MANGROVE

6 February 2023/in News

Last week we were happy to introduce in our Tours’ Catalog a new interesting excursion which is definitively “off the beaten tracks”. Take a look: you leave Dajuma around 9 a.m. in the direction of Gilimanuk, the extreme western tip of the Bali national park which is also the port of embarkation for Java. After an hour’s drive, you discover a small cove bordering the Gilimanuk mangroves where a traditional fishing boat awaits you for a trip of about 2 hours. You learn how mangrove trees can survive in salt water, and how the mangrove is also a paradise for birds. Then you are invited to snorkel above untouched corals. It will bent be time to return to the starting point where a seafood lunch prepared by the local waurung awaits you. On the way back to Dajuma you will be offered several stops: visit the famous starling bird endemic to Bali, very rare, and another in Negara at the weaving museum.

LET’S PLAY BILLIARDS

16 January 2023/in News

Last week, after celebrating Kuningan, which marks the end of the Galungan festivities and the departure of the ancestors from the family temples, we installed a magnificent billiard table in the large lobby room. We discovered on this occasion that in a small village 10 km from Dajuma, surrounded by nature, there was a billiard manufacturer known throughout Bali and even exporting to other islands and abroad. A great novelty that should delight our guests!

KITE ON THE BEACH

17 October 2022/in News

The beach in front of Dajuma is an extraordinary playground for young and old. Protected by its volcanic cape which can be seen more than 300 m away at low tide, the beach offers all kinds of activities, from simple walks in giant potholes to coral rocks which aquatic life fascinates children, to other more sporting activities such as surfing, kite surfing, SUP, sailing or fishing at the cape or at sea with local fishermen. A wonderful world in itself so exotic! But among all these activities there is one very popular in Bali, the kite. All Balinese families do this activity and like to share it with our guests as the picture shows.

5 YEARS PASSED…

3 October 2022/in News

This week we had the great pleasure of welcoming the Oliver-Williams family from Australia. The idea came to reproduce the same scene that had taken place during their previous stay in 2017, in this case a training on the floral decorations so widespread in Bali. Thing said thing done! It’s very touching to see in these photos the change of little girls who become teenagers surrounded by their always so radiant mother!

BETWEEN YOUR MOMENTS OF RELAXATION

5 September 2022/in News

Holidays are not always synonymous with idleness. This is particularly true in Bali when you visit the island as a tourist, where you are constantly encouraged to discover something new that delights you, be it cultural, artistic or sporting. This is the case of Dajuma whose site lends itself particularly well to all kinds of activities as shown in the photo with badminton, a very popular sport in Indonesia which has several of the best players in the world. A small overview of these on-site activities is given here: https://www.dajuma.com/e-library/#activities–tours. Enjoy!
