EXPERIENCE THE SOUL OF BALI THROUGH THE ENCHANTING SOUND OF RINDIK

29 June 2026/in News

Discover the gentle rhythm of Bali through our Traditional Balinese Instrument called Rindik. We offer you a complimentary cultural activity exclusively for our in-house guests at Puri Dajuma Terrace.
Held every Friday at 4:00 PM at the Yoga Shala, this interactive experience invites you to discover the soothing melodies of the Rindik, one of Bali’s most treasured bamboo instruments. Crafted from carefully selected bamboo and played with soft mallets, the Rindik produces peaceful, harmonious sounds that have long been associated with relaxation and the beauty of Balinese village life. For generations, Rindik music has been performed during weddings, traditional ceremonies, and welcoming rituals, making it a timeless symbol of Balinese hospitality and cultural heritage. Its calming melodies beautifully reflect the island’s philosophy of living in harmony with nature.
Hosted by our own team members, who is also a talented Rindik player, this interactive session offers a unique opportunity to learn about the instrument’s history, enjoy a live performance, and experience the joy of playing it yourself. Whether you have a passion for music or simply wish to experience authentic Balinese culture, this activity offers a memorable and meaningful connection to the island.
Join us every Friday at 4:00 PM and let the enchanting sound of the Rindik become part of your Bali journey—only at Puri Dajuma Terrace.

HAPPY GALUNGAN & KUNINGAN DAY

22 June 2026/in News

Galungan (June 17th) and Kunigan (June 27th) in West Bali: A Celebration of Tradition, Family, and Community
For the Balinese people, Galungan is much more than a religious holiday, it is a time when traditions come alive in every home, temple, and village across the island.
Preparations begin several days before Galungan, with families gathering to prepare special dishes that are not commonly cooked in everyday life. Traditional favorites include lawar, a ceremonial mixed dish. In West Bali, one of the most distinctive varieties is Lawar Klungah, made from young coconut shell. Families also prepare various types of satay, including sate tusuk (skewer meat) and sate lilit, many of which will later be offered as part of religious ceremonies.
Another unmistakable sign of Galungan is the erection of penjor, beautifully decorated bamboo poles placed in front of homes and temples. Temples are adorned with colorful fabrics and intricate ornaments crafted from coconut and palm leaves, creating a festive atmosphere throughout the island.
On Galungan Day itself, Balinese Hindus visit not only their family shrines but also village temples and places of work to offer prayers and gratitude. At Puri Dajuma, for example, employees come throughout the day to present offerings at the various shrines located around the resort, bringing the spirit of Galungan into every corner of the property.
Walking along Bali’s roads during Galungan is a truly memorable experience. Rows of elegant penjor sway gently in the breeze, creating one of the island’s most iconic and beautiful sights.
As the day draws to a close, many families spend time together enjoying the outdoors. Beaches become popular gathering places where people relax, watch the sunset, play in the sand, and fly kites with their children, simple moments that reflect the joy, togetherness, and gratitude at the heart of Galungan.
Selamat Hari Raya Galungan, may this sacred celebration bring peace, prosperity, and blessings to all.

A SLOW JOURNEY THROUGH WEST BALI

15 June 2026/in News

In a world that moves fast, sometimes the most meaningful experiences come from slowing down.
Our newest experience, A Slow Journey Through West Bali, invites you to discover a different side of Bali, one filled with authentic local stories, natural beauty, and simple pleasures.
The journey begins at a peaceful cacao plantation, where guests can learn about different cacao varieties, pick fresh cacao fruits, and taste cacao straight from the tree. Surrounded by the tranquil atmosphere of rural West Bali, the experience is complemented by fresh young coconut water and traditional Balinese snacks.
From there, guests visit a local cacao processing facility to witness the fascinating transformation of cacao beans into cacao nibs, gaining insight into the craftsmanship behind every chocolate product. The adventure continues to the scenic Palasari Dam and the beautiful Sacred Heart Church of Palasari, a unique landmark where Balinese culture and Catholic heritage blend harmoniously. After lunch, the journey concludes at a local dragon fruit plantation, where guests can learn about the cultivation process and enjoy the fresh sweetness of the fruit directly from the farm. More than just a tour, this experience offers a chance to connect with the authentic soul of West Bali through its landscapes, flavours, and local traditions, one slow moment at a time.

FROM DAJUMA TERRACE EXPERIENCE THE HEART OF RURAL BALI

8 June 2026/in News

Beyond Bali’s popular attractions lies a quieter side of the island, where nature and village life create a more meaningful travel experience. At Dajuma Terrace, guests can discover this authentic side of Bali through our enhanced Walking Around the Village activity. This updated route takes guests along peaceful village paths and into our newly managed tropical fruit plantation, offering a unique opportunity to connect with the natural beauty and agricultural heritage of the region. The plantation features a variety of tropical plants and fruit trees, including cacao, coffee, coconut, vanilla, banana, mangosteen, durian, pineapple, salak, papaya, clove, and dragon fruit. As guests explore the garden, they can learn more about local crops and the sustainable practices used to maintain this thriving green space.
More than just a walk, this experience invites guests to slow down, enjoy the fresh countryside air, and gain a deeper appreciation for Bali’s rural landscape and traditions. Recently, Mr. Stephane Thil and his family experienced the activity during their stay in our Sawah Room, enjoying a guided walk through the village and surrounding countryside. During fruiting season, guests may even have the chance to taste freshly harvested fruits directly from the plantation, adding an authentic and memorable touch to the journey. Whether you are a nature lover, a curious traveler, or simply looking to experience Bali beyond the usual tourist routes, Walking Around the Village offers a rewarding blend of nature, culture, and local life in the heart of Bali’s countryside.

TRY SLOW TRAVEL AT DAJUMA

20 April 2026/in News

The Slow Travel concept is gaining increasing importance in today’s tourism industry. But what does it really mean? In many ways, it’s a modern evolution of the old idea: “Don’t just get tanned, understand the place.” Slow Travel encourages guests to move away from mass tourism, where destinations are often experienced quickly and superficially. Instead, it invites travelers to take their time—exploring more deeply and meaningfully by connecting with local people, culture, and nature. This philosophy has been at the heart of Dajuma since its creation in 2002. Today, we are proud to take it even further with the opening of our second resort, Dajuma Terrace, nestled in the rice fields. Across both resorts, we offer a wide range of authentic experiences. One of our guests’ favorites is a scenic trek through the rice fields leading to the beautiful Sing Sing Waterfall. On the way back, a stop in a nearby village offers something truly special: a warm welcome from a local family, a delicious home-cooked lunch, and a glimpse into their daily life and traditions. Moments like these are rare, genuine, and deeply appreciated by our guests. Viva Slow Travel!

GALUNGAN & KUNIGAN CELEBRATION

1 December 2025/in News

All of Bali celebrated Galungan and Kuningan from November 19th to 29th—ten days of festivities welcoming the gods and ancestors to earth (Galungan) until their return on Kuningan (November 29th). This sacred celebration takes place every 210 days according to the Balinese calendar. It is a joyful period when families gather and villages are beautifully adorned with penjor—the graceful bamboo offerings lining the streets. Our guests are always fascinated by the way Balinese people honor their gods and ancestors through abundant prayers and offerings in family compounds and village temples. Another truly captivating tradition of Balinese culture!

TREKKING AROUND PUPUAN SAWAH VILLAGE

29 September 2025/in News

Trekking through the rice fields of Pupuan Sawah is a must-do activity for guests staying at Dajuma Terrace. We offer this immersive experience to help visitors discover the authentic side of Bali—where farmers work the land, harvest rice, dry cocoa and coffee beans, and gather mangosteen, durian, and coconuts straight from the trees.
Just last week, our guests from France, Mr. Christophe and his wife, who stayed with us for four nights, enjoyed this unforgettable trek. As they wandered through the lush greenery and vibrant rice paddies, visited the serene Singh Singh Waterfall, and took in the tranquil rhythm of the countryside, they were visibly moved by the beauty around them. They often paused to admire the rich flora and fauna, repeatedly saying, “This place is truly beautiful, with such an abundance of fruit trees.” Their heartfelt appreciation perfectly captured the unique charm and natural wonder of Pupuan Sawah.

BALI SPIRITUALITY

25 August 2025/in News

Bali is not only renowned for its breathtaking nature but also for the deep spirituality that shapes the daily life of its people. At Dajuma, we cherish every opportunity to share this unique cultural heritage with our guests. Whenever possible, we invite them to join local ceremonies, often hosted by the families of our staff. Just last week, a very special celebration took place at Paudan Temple, which is owned by five families (around 30 people in total). This sacred ceremony, held every Balinese year of 210 days, on a Saturday known as Wayang, opened its doors to our German guests. They were warmly welcomed as part of the community—immersing themselves in the rhythm of the gamelan, the resonance of sacred mantras chanted by the priest, and the blessing he bestowed. For them, it was far more than just an observation—it was an immersion into the soul of Bali, where hospitality and spirituality meet in harmony. A rare and unforgettable moment of sharing, creating bonds that go beyond cultures and borders.

DAJUMA CELEBRATES GALUNGAN & KUNINGAN

28 April 2025/in News

Every 210 days, Bali celebrates Galungan and Kuningan, a sacred 10-day festival (April 23–May 3) honoring the victory of Dharma (good) over Adharma (evil). The festivities begin with purification rituals (Sugihan Jawa and Sugihan Bali), followed by family preparations like fruit ripening (Penyekeban) and cake making (Penyajahan). On Penampahan Galungan, offerings and feasts are prepared. Galungan day is the highlight, with ancestral spirits visiting homes adorned with beautiful  penjor bamboo poles. After a day of family gatherings (Manis Galungan), the festival concludes with Kuningan, marked by yellow rice offerings and the farewell of the spirits. A beautiful time of sharing between our staff and guests!
