Facing the ocean, full west, Dajuma garden offers on more than 300 meters along the beach, a lot a locations where to relax and embrace an amazing environment: hammocks, long chairs, swings, gazebos are at your disposal in the most comfortable way,  to enjoy the always active beach with its fishermen, farmers washing their buffalos, local families bathing in volcano natural holes, surfers, tides and hundreds of birds. Sometimes when the full moon approaches, one can also see ceremonies on the beach always captivating to watch. You should try!

Since its grand opening on May 1st 2016, the gardens of our Bendega villas have been growing fast with a lot of various species (Frangipani, heliconia, lotus, hibiscus, orchid, soka, bougainvilliers). Each room hence benefit from a private garden, all different, for the greatest pleasure of our guests. On the picture, in front of villa Surya, our gardeners have created something really special: they started from a bougainvillier which they decided to marry with a creeping plant and some orchid. In the background the extraordinary color of the croton plants reinforce the impression of being in front of a canvas.

The flowering season for the Flamboyant also called “Flame Tree” is now approaching in Bali. Originated from Madagascar and discovered at the beginning of the 19th century, the flamboyant is now present in almost all tropical countries. In Bali, it is always a great pleasure to see this so well named tree along the roads growing wildely or on the contrary pampered in private gardens as adornly trees. In both cases it is a shock for westerners to suddenly see the sky flaming. On the picture a flamboyant on the road to Perancak, a nice spot to visit close to Dajuma, with its incredible fishermen boats.

Impossible to miss these beautiful birds when staying at Dajuma because they are everywhere in the garden and not wild at all with humans.
This picture was taken from the bed of our Shanti duplex villa just before sunset : a couple of Yellow-vented bulbuls decided to have their « mandi mandi » (bath in Bahasa indonesia) just in front of the terrace. A fascinating and touching spectacle where you see birds toileting exactly (or almost …) like humans !

Another beautiful tradition in Dajuma consists in sophisticated floral decorations which are prepared by all the staff on the occasion of specific events such as anniversaries, honey moons, romantic dinners, wedding ceremonies and Balinese shows on stage.
Most of the staff on duty participates in the preparation of these nice decorations. Here on the picture, is Suadewi, one of our kitchen supervisors, who knows as well how to assemble beautiful  floral compositions and prepare savorous dishes!

Not easy to combine a sandy beach and a beautiful green garden ! Why ? Because the salty water from the sea is really the number 1 enemy of any kind of trees (with some exceptions !), flowers and other green plants.
However, this is what happened in Dajuma thanks to the outstanding skills of our gardeners team headed by Anom.
As shown on the picture, the garden is coexisting pacifically with the sea even during high tides when the waves come licking the edge of the garden. The result is a unique scenery for our guests who can relax in the soft shadow of our « ketatang » trees, have a massage in the Gazebo or dine with the song of the sea. Not to be missed !

In the exuberant Dajuma garden, at the detour of the paths adorned with frangipanies, bougainvillers and other ibiscus one can have the surprise to see nice birds practicing the traditional Balinese « mandi-mandi » (« bath-shower ») in stone basins covered with waterlily flowers.
Here on the picture, a family of Scaly-breasted Munia birds easily recognizable with their plastron looking like leopard skin. A rare moment to savor!

One specific feature of Dajuma, often mentioned in the comments of our guests is its tropical garden or « Taman » in Bahasa Indonesia. Our Head Gardener Anom (3rd from the left) is the master of the place: with his team composed of 4 people (Sunarta, Mudita, Gunaya, and Sumawa missing on the picture) all from the village of Pekutatan he created a wonderful 1,5 hectar park where thousand of flowers and trees are coexisting in the most harmonious arrangement. Not so easy to choose his or her preferred specy in this floral expansion but for sure there are for all tastes!

Close to the Rama restaurant, in the middle of the lawn,  your eye may be attracted by  a small traditional statue : a women carrying a flat basket on her head.
Her location is now a holy place because the Hindu people from  Puri Dajuma are used to put flowers as offerings to the Gods in the basket every day.
For this beautiful  and élégant little girl, the statue looks like a good friend with whom one like to share some frangipani flowers.
Indeed a graceful  picture!
