LATEST NEWS ABOUT OUR TALIPOT PALM

17 July 2023/in News

Many of our guests regularly ask us about our Talipot palm. In December 2022, we published the extraordinary and very rare news of the flowering of this very special palm. Very rare as it only happens once in its lifetime. Today, after 8 months, the inflorescence is huge, reaching up to 20 meters in height. It is covered with millions of tiny, yellowish-white flowers, which give off a sweet fragrance. The flowering of the talipot palm is a rare and special event, and it is a reminder of the beauty of nature that we are very proud to have in our garden!

WHEN RIO MEETS LUNA

13 March 2023/in News

Dajuma recently had a charming show in the garden. Two happy  toddlers Rio and Luna respectively aged 9 and 6 months, on stay with their parents in Dajuma, got to know eachother in the garden, a few steps from Rama restaurant. Since then, they do not quit each other any more!

FLAMBOYANT IS BLOOMING IN BALI

29 November 2021/in News

There is a tree in South East Asia that is unlike any other in terms of size and beauty. Even its name is not ordinary. It is the Flamboyant which was borrowed from French into English in the 19th century, so aptly named because its immense racemes of scarlet and orange flowers that really resemble the flames of a fire. In Bali it is the season of their flowering and everywhere you can see their colorful conflagration. In Dajuma, we particularly like this tree native to Madagascar. Our gardeners take special care of it and will be delighted to present it to you during your next stay, which we hope to be near!

DAJUMA GARDEN BETWEEN EARTH AND SEA

8 February 2021/in News

The one hectare garden of Dajuma has acquired over the years a good reputation with our customers. There are many testimonies that highlight its beauty and diversity at the edge between earth and sea. Behind these appearances, it is a team of five gardeners who design and maintain it with talent. Despite a very low occupation, they continue to maintain it with as much enthusiasm as ever. On the photo, Mudita is preparing for your next trip by carrying some recently pruned trees and plants into the compost. Thank you Mudita and welcome back to our guests in our Eden garden!

PLANTING TREES AT DAJUMA

13 January 2020/in Dajuma, News, Tropical garden, West Bali

Julia and Mariia have been our guests the last 2 weeks, part of a Yoga group of 12 people coming from all over Europe. They particularly appreciated their stay with us and formulated an unusual request: planting 2 trees in the garden what our staff organised with great pleasure. This is what is shown on the picture: an already tall Araucaria for Julia and a young coconut for Mariia. Both trees will be happy to have your visit next year!

FIRST RAIN IN BALI: A BLESSING FOR FARMERS AND OUR GUESTS

4 November 2019/in Dajuma, Eco-Resort, News, Tropical garden, West Bali

This year, Indonesia including Bali, had a longer dry season than usual. In West Bali, where we are located, most of the villagers are farmers. Their fields were dry, some of their crops, mainly rice and vegetables, suffered from the longer dry season. Everybody was expecting the rain to come soon. Finally, it happened in the beginning of November. We saw villagers around us so happy and grateful to be able to celebrate the first rain. This period of the year is also a blessing for our guests: for a few moments of rain mainly during the night, they get in return an even more beautiful nature. In our tropical garden the flowers are blooming like never. The clouds in the sky also create breathtaking sunsets, lasting for much longer than during the dry season. Something you should not miss next time you decide to visit us in the coming weeks!

SUNSET BEHIND THE COCKTAIL

28 October 2019/in Dajuma, Eco-Resort, News, Restaurant, West Bali

What is the best time to enjoy a delicious cocktail in the tropics? It is undoubtedly the “happy hours” of Dajuma. Imagine yourself comfortably seating in the gazebos of our tropical garden or on the underwater stools of our pools, with the sun declining on the horizon. Because Dajuma is oriented full west, with breathtaking sunsets that you will never forget. Our bartenders love to surprise you with every day new creations that enrich an already busy cocktail menu. Something we would much like to introduce you to on your next visit. See you soon!

“THE MOST BEAUTIFUL GARDEN I HAVE SEEN IN BALI”

3 June 2019/in Dajuma, Eco-Resort, News, Tropical garden, West Bali

Many thanks to our last month guest Kristin from Australia for her appreciation on Trip advisor about Dajuma highlights and “the most beautiful garden I have seen in Bali”!
It is true all the gardeners team around Yuliartha, as a charismatic leader, is proud to create day after day a real outside work of art. In more than 1,5 ha they cultivate with passion a wide variety of trees, plants and flowers, using natural compost made on site from our kitchen garbage. When strolling along the paths, our guests are always astonished and enchanted to discover a rainbow of colors and delicate scents: orchids, frangipani, bougainvilliers, heliconya, soka are some examples of them. But often comes up the question: what is the name of this flower, plant or tree? The solution was to label each and every of our species (70 different in total) with bamboo signs through-out the property. It is what has been done last week, the new bamboo signs replacing the old ones made from aluminium which were in place for more than 15 years. Visitors and guests can continue to learn and enjoy about the extraordinary diversity of the Balinese flora.
On the picture, Yuliarta and his team. From left to right: Yuliarta, Umar, Zikin, Mudita, Gunaya. Thanks also, guys, for the specific sceneries you build for each event: romantic dinners, anniversaries, weddings, temple festival, new Year… You are the best gardeners we can dream of!

UPIN IPIN WELCOME!

15 April 2019/in Dajuma, Eco-Resort, News, Tropical garden, West Bali

By chance, this couple of dwarf hens became the mascot of Dajuma. Every day, they roam the entire property in all directions to the delight of our customers and especially children. They are incredibly kind and cute to watch. They also fulfill their role in terms of cleaning the garden. Our staff has named them Upin Ipin, an easy-to-remember nickname that refers to the Malaysian cartoon, which is very popular in Indonesia at the moment. We are sure you will be happy to meet them on your next visit to Dajuma!

RAINY SEASON STARTED IN BALI

19 November 2018/in Dajuma, Nature, News, West Bali

The rainy season in Bali is used to last from November to March with sometimes incursions in the dry season and vice-versa. This year the rainy season starts on time to the great joy of farmers and gardeners! But the questions often asked by our guests willing to visit Bali are “Is it worthwile to visit Bali during the rainy season? How strong is the rain? How long every day? Is’nt it too wet?” Legitimate questions when they are going to spend hours in a plane to get here! First of all we have to keep in mind that raining in Bali has nothing to do with heavy rain we can meet in some South East Asia countries such as Thaïland. In Bali, there is no monsoon. The answer is also very depending on where you plan to stay in Bali. Close to the mountains you will get more rain than on the coast. In Dajuma, the rain falls only a few hours every day, often in the night and the consequences on the nature and your stay are more than positive: flowers blooming and green grass everywhere in the garden, no dust, wetness limited by the breeze from the sea, and, cherry on the cake, contrasted skies offering breathtaking sunsets as shown on the picture. What could we dream of better?
