EXERCISE ON THE BEACH

5 July 2015/in Beach, Culture, Dajuma, Dancing - Music, News, People

Every week on Saturday, the children with their teachers come to the beach in front of Dajuma to do exercise.
The pupils come from the kindergarden to the elementary school in Pekutatan called TK Harapan 2. They choose this place because of the nice view and the proximity of the school.
On the picture, the children dancing under the guidance of their teacher Ibu Widiastuti.

FASCINATING MAKEPUNG BUFFALO RACES

19 June 2015/in News, Uncategorised

Not easy to combine a sandy beach and a beautiful green garden ! Why ? Because the salty water from the sea is really the number 1 enemy of any kind of trees (with some exceptions !), flowers and other green plants.
However, this is what happened in Dajuma thanks to the outstanding skills of our gardeners team headed by Anom.
As shown on the picture, the garden is coexisting pacifically with the sea even during high tides when the waves come licking the edge of the garden. The result is a unique scenery for our guests who can relax in the soft shadow of our « ketatang » trees, have a massage in the Gazebo or dine with the song of the sea. Not to be missed !

Dajuma supports sea turtle conservation

28 October 2014/in Beach, Dajuma, Eco-Resort, News

Sea turtle conservation is a real concern  for a long time insofar as their reproduction process is  difficult and subject to various threats : when the turtle comes out from the sea to spawn on the beach, the fragile eggs even buried in the sand are often eaten by errant dogs, cats, birds and sometimes people. Same scenario when the egg comes to maturation : the baby turtle has to join the sea and only 1 out of 1000 will really survive.
On Dajuma beach, nearby our hotel, we are used to have sea turtles spawning every year.  Our staff has trained the villagers to bring the eggs to the Turtle Conservation Program, located a few kilometers from Dajuma. This program  initiated by the WWF fifteen years ago is today sponsored by private firms including Dajuma.
It is headed by I Komang Gunawan (kurmaasih@gmail.com) whose family with successively his grand father and his father has been involved for 3 generations with turtles. Initially turtles’ hunters until 1997, they decided to switch to their conservation with the WWF technical and financial support which ended in 2002.
Today Komang is proud of his contribution to the survival of threatened species such as turtles and on our side we are happy to bring our support to him.
We regularly invite our guests to visit his facilities, and contribute to the development of his center by sponsoring a “turtles nest” which generally counts several tens of eggs. This is what happened a few days ago with a French family who sponsored 60 eggs which should hatch in a few weeks. Needless to say that the emotion was great when Alexander was able to take in his hands these so fragile animals ! Well done guys !

Renovation of our boat monument

15 September 2014/in Bali, Beach, Dajuma, News

There is a landmark on the beach in front of Dajuma which is a boat with 3 soldiers on the deck among which the famous Colonel Ngurah Raï, hero of the Indonesian independence. Despite a strong structure made from the concrete, the waves regularly damage this beautiful commemorative monument. Until this year it was impossible for Dajuma to renovate it because it is the property of the Indonesian army. After some months of negotiation, we finally obtained the authorization to refurbish it what is done at the moment. Here on the picture, our team of workers under the guidance of I Putu Edit Andi Pratama, a renowned artist in the region, specialised in the construction of statues all around the Regency.
Their work is so perfect that it is almost impossible to distinguish between real humans and statues. Try to count how many real humans we have on the picture!

SUP and sea kayak : how to enjoy West Bali from the sea

10 February 2014/in Beach, News, Surfing

Sea kayak is a new activity in Dajuma which completes the already existing sea activities such as the now famous Stand-Up Paddle (SUP), surfing and body-boarding.
Born in Hawaï in the 1960’s, SUP became popular in Bali because it is relatively easy to practice compared with short surf boards . Many of our guests enjoy this relaxing sport activity on the West beach of the resort.
Now they can also enjoy our 3 seats sea kayak and go paddling around Medewi cape. But be careful : contrary to what is believed, sea kayak is a real sport very demanding in terms of effort to deploy!

Pekutatan beach in the « Jakarta Post » newspaper

27 January 2014/in Beach, News, Pekutatan, West Bali

Last Monday our beach was enhanced with half a page including five pictures in the « Bali daily »pages. We are happy to share some sentences:
…« Walking along the beach is a liberating experience. The sounds of the incoming waves, the clean air and that expanse of green moss that faithfully hug the rocks will surely convince any visitor they are in a different world.
The beach is a gem not only because of its natural beauty but also due to his position in the island’s history. A boat made of concrete… was constructed to commemorate the landing of Lt. Col. I Gusti Ngurah Raï and his men from East Java… leading the resistance in Bali… It is still the centerpiece of the beach. »…
And a good landmark for sunset pictures?

Happy New Year! Selamat Tahun Baru!

6 January 2014/in Culture, Dajuma, Dancing - Music, News, Pekutatan

This New Year celebration has been particularly festive at Dajuma. More than 50 guests enjoyed a delicious typical Balinese dinner served in the garden while 3 orchestras (Jeggog, Gamelan and Gongs) accompanied by Balinese dancers were playing. When midnight approached, all the guests were invited to come on stage to play with the musicians. After the traditional greetings, fireworks were launched from the beach. Thanks to the “weather keepers” from Pekutatan village, the sky remained clear almost all the night. A wonderful moment shared between the guests and the staff. Happy New Year 2014! Selamat Tahun Baru!

Cleaning the rubbish around Dajuma

16 December 2013/in Dajuma, Nature, News, People

In its eco-policy (http://www.dajuma.com/#eco-resort) Puri Dajuma pays a lot of attention, among other things, to the cleanliness of its natural environment. Every Friday morning, each department delegates 2 of its staff members to participate in the cleaning of the area by collecting all the rubbish mainly brought by the sea, from the East and West beaches up to the main road. This action is not only in favor of the environment but has also a strong connotation with the Balinese belief system called Tri Hita Karana which is centered on maintaining a harmonious relationship with God, People, and Nature. The philosophy of Tri Hita Karana affirms that happiness, prosperity, and peacefulness are attainable when the three elements of God, Human, and Nature coexist in harmony with each other in everyday life. On the picture, our First Chef Surianta (in orange), our Chief gardener Anom (with the cap) and in the background, behind Surianta, Rondy our Sales & Marketing manager for Asia. An intense moment of solidarity and harmony between our staff and the nature, often shared with our guests!

Ocean Celebration

18 November 2013/in Culture, News, People

About one hundred people gathered last week-end on Pekutatan west beach, just beside Dajuma, to celebrate the ocean in both religions Hindu and Muslim. On the Hindu side, the ceremony on the beach was the continuation of the temple ceremony that took place at Asah Duren Village (one village near by Puri Dajuma). They bring the symbols of god to be purified by a ceremony on the beach. They also brought various agricultural products taken to the sea by traditional fisherman boat as a symbol of gratitude and thanks to God for all the gifts and prosperity. On the Muslim side, a long speech was given by the local imam. A great moment for the Puri Dajuma guests who could appreciate the rare symbiosis of two religions celebrating at the same time and in the same place the ocean and its benefits.
