Recently, we had the pleasure to host a group of yoga sent by our partner and on Yoga specialized German tour operator, Yoga Travel and Friends (www.yogatravel-friends.de) which is used to send a lot of yoga groups to Bali for round trips, retreats and individual tours.
The group from Munich, Germany, called Djaya Yoga & Soundhealing stayed for 4 nights, practiced a combination of Yin Yoga and Sound Healing as well as Yin Yang Yoga and meditation twice a day at our yoga shala overlooking the Indian Ocean. Under the lead of Tanja Seehofer (Yoga Teacher) and Yann Kuhlmann (Musician) 8 members of the group enjoyed their activities. Beside practicing the yoga, they also enjoyed the relaxing atmosphere of Dajuma by doing massages, beauty treatments, pool and beach activities or even just laying on the hammock or long chair under the sun. In the end of their stay, they really enjoyed the entertainment night with Balinese music and dances, everybody was very happy some of the participants also decided to extend their stay with us. We hope to see you back next year! Meanwhile enjoy the festive season and a beautiful end of year celebrations.

Let’s Natacha talk about her Bali experience:

“When coming from Paris 10 years ago, I discovered another world in Bali, more precisely Dajuma world: it changed my life.
I was more than impressed by the setting of the resort built on a beautiful cape enhanced by fishermen activities and birds, the neighbor praho beach on West bay, the endless wild East beach, the nature at its best which makes you breathing and regenerating. I enjoyed the large Balinese style cottages with private terrasse and garden, the large pools overlooking the oceans, the restaurants and SPA by the sea.
But the most important in my opinion are the people I met there, particularly the regretted Indra whose spirit is still accompanying me today. Also among the staff and in the village, where people are always eager bringing happiness to each other. It made me feel so different. I discovered another part of myself and decided to change of carrer, I am therapist now.
I was really touched by their philosophy ‘Tri Hita Karana’ : Harmony between Humans and Gods, Humans and Nature, Humans themselves.
After 3 vacation stays, I decided to spend 6 months straight at Dajuma in 2013, participating in every ceremony and event. I even travelled to Yogyakarta together with the first Dajuma employees trip. I became familiar to many families around the village. We consider each other like a real family: we share many things, our happiness and sadness, when I am also far away, in France. We don’t like to being separated for a long time.
And I am now again back for 6 weeks, total 54 weeks. I love Bali!”

EVENT OF THE WEEK IN PEKUTATAN: HINDU STUDENTS GATHERING

The Jembrana Hindu Youth Communication Forum held an event entitled “Hindu Students Gathering”. All the Junior High Schools (public schools) in Jembrana delegated their students (male and female) to participate in this event. It took place at Satria Mandala Stadium in Pekutatan, 10 minutes from Dajuma, from November 7th to 10th, 2019 with the participation of 200 students. Each group built a beautiful and well decorated tent. This event had a lot of competitive activities such as traditional games, preparation of Hindu ceremonies, cooking traditional cuisine, Balinese decoration, Balinese story-telling, painting, writing Balinese letters in sanscrit, art performances, etc. In front of the tent of each group, they also prepared a small exhibition of local handicraft. This event aims at fostering the preservation of Balinese culture in all Hindu students, in particular two major features of hinduism which are love and responsibility. Using our free shuttle service, one of our guest, Birgit visited this event. She was happy to meet the students and discover their creativity and commitment to Hinduism. Well done guys!

On September 25th, Dajuma was happy to celebrate a special event, the wedding of our front desk officer Astari with Riski, previously cook at Dajuma and now teacher at the Negara Hotel School. One day before the celebration, according to the Balinese custom, the families of the fiances invited their relatives to a joyful party in Astari’s family house, located close to Dajuma. And on September 25th was the wedding ceremony, where some of our guests were invited to join and congratulate the young married. We are used to inform our guests about ceremonies around the hotel and pleased to invite them, if they would like to participate in. A day after the wedding day (September 26th ) was the wedding reception at Riski’s house and all of our staff came to attend it. Congratulations Astari and Risky! Our best wishes of happyness!

First time in Dajuma life, 2 of our employees will be retiring soon. Misrin and Kadek have respectively 17 years and 9 years of service with Dajuma. Our guests will certainly remember their grand smiles and … their moustaches! Since the beginning of Dajuma in 2002, Misrin was part of our security team, taking care of the safety of our guests 24h, always ready to help during the night including late arrivals. Kadek was one of our driver, particularly appreciated by our guests for his soft and safe driving and his deep knowledge of West Bali. According to the Indonesian labor law, both are leaving at 57 in full shape and a lot of ideas in mind: open a warung for Kadek and take care of a farm for Misrin. On the picture the farewell party organised by their colleagues. Thank you so much for your commitment with Dajuma. We wish you a healthy and joyful retirement!

This year again, we had the pleasure of welcoming at the beginning of September, 3 groups of the famous french chocolatier Valrhona bringing together chocolate masters from the Asia-Pacific region. Aimed at exchanging experiences and recipes and visiting their cacao producers of West Bali, the gathering was also the opportunity to spend some good time at Dajuma and practice some activities such as massages, stand-up paddle and surfing. They also invited the representatives of the cacao farmers to come and taste the delicious chocolate creations made from the West Bali cacao, particularly some chocolate mousses. Everybody was so happy.

It is something which happens frequently at Dajuma, when our guests are leaving, they like taking a picture with our staff and keeping in touch with us. What is shown this week is a compilation of these pics taken during the month of July. Among them, two dynamic couples Peter and Astrid (top left) and Annette and Marc (bottom left) who are used to visit us regularly. After a successful career in South Africa as writer, editor and photographer, Narina decided in 2012 to roam the world with Mark, exploring wherever their work takes them. She has contributed to titles including Men’s Health, The Telegraph, Fodor’s, The Guardian, High Life, CNN, Marie Claire, South China Morning Post, Getaway, Grazia and Discovery.
As freelance journalist, Mark has been travelling the world on various assignments for more than 80 titles, including BBC Wildlife, BBC Earth, Esquire, Geographical, The Guardian, CNN Traveller, Sunday Times, CNN Travel, BBC Travel and Travel Africa.

Yoga is a spiritual form of science that originated in ancient provinces of India.
 Popularly practiced by sages ans saints, the word « yoga » comes from the ancient Sanskrit « yog » which means “to harness with”.
 Yoga enables us to join our soul to immortal divinity and helps us to entrust the control over our physical and mental health.
 With a strong spiritual and meditative core, yoga offers a variety of physical exercises that lead to both physical and psychological well-being.

The idea of 21 June as the yoga day was first proposed by India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2014. 

Its unique environment makes Puri Dajuma a very special place for revitalisation and yoga practice, with a full time yoga teacher at disposal.
 Choice of great ocean view atmospheres: the yoga shala on top of the property, the lawn by the beach and the large trees shadow, the volcano rocky beach itself… 

On the picture, 22 guests, who celebrated the Yoga day in Dajuma, could experience these opportunities for a week, deeply breathing by the sea, and lulled by the waves sound on the cape.

Like everywhere in the world, Indonesia celebrated last week the end of the Ramadan, called Idul Fitri in this country. After one month of fasting, our muslim staff was happy to celebrate this important event by visiting neighbors and family, exchanging gifts and wishes. A great moment of sharing!
