Last week, on March 11th, two of our staff get married, Dina our sales and marketing supervisor and Nengah, waiter at our restaurants. According to the Balinese tradition they were wearing the so beautiful and traditional wedding dress called “Payas Agung”. All their families, friends and colleagues from Dajuma were around them to celebrate this unique moment. You will certainly recognize their smiles on the picture. Dina (right) with her husband Jordy and Nengah (right) with his wife Indrayani. Congratulations to the four of you! We wish you all the happyness of the world!

This year again, Dajuma was invited by the Ministry of Tourism of Indonesia to participate as exhibitor in the famous ITB Berlin from March 6th to 10th.
With 10’000 exhibitors and 160’000 visitors from 180 countries and 6 continents, ITB is the most important tourism fair in the world.
A unique opportunity for Dajuma to meet our European partners and invent with them some new services which will hopefully astonish our guests!

“OPEN-BED” NEW PROCEDURE AT DAJUMA

Great start for Dajuma this year with a new procedure aimed at improving the comfort of our guests. Every day, around 6:00 p.m. our housekeeping staff prepares the beds of our guests by adjusting and cleaning sheets and pillows and installing if necessary the mosquito net after having checked the absence of insects inside. At the end, some frangipani flowers are disposed on the bed, bringing their delicate fragrance. A good way to have a revigorating night in a fresh and fragrant atmosphere! The feedbacks from our guests are excellent. On the picture Imam in action.

A wonderful initiative was taken 2 years ago by 2 young surfers Alex and Andrew who decided to found 4OCEANS. In less than 2 years they have been able to create a fleet of boats and trucks aimed at collecting the rubbish everywhere around the island. Easy to recognise on the beach with their blue clothes, 4OCEANS volunteers do clean the beach between Medewi and Dajuma twice a week, hence completing what our own staff is doing every day. Very festive atmosphere this December 31st in Dajuma to celebrate the new year! Around a delicious “Babi Guling” (grilled pig) more than 70 guests shared the last hours of the year in a varied musical atmosphere, alternating Jegog, modern songs and traditional dances. On the last strokes of midnight, they exchanged their wishes under the stars while a magnificent fireworks was fired from the beach. All Dajuma staff wishes you a very happy 2019!

This year, both events will occur almost together, Galungan being on December 26th. By celebrating the victory of Dharma over Adharma, Galungan marks the time when the ancestral spirits visit the Earth. The last day of the celebration is Kuningan 10 days later, when they return. Galungan also marks the beginning of a new year in the 210-day Balinese calendar.

This year, Dajuma will celebrate with a lot of festivities, not only Christmas and the New Year but also Galungan and Kuningan which are almost at the same dates respectively December 26th for Galungan and January 5th for Kuningan, 10 days of celebration of the Balinese New Year which lasts 210 days in the Pawukon calendar.

After two months of intensive concertation between our 8 cooks and their 3 leaders, Paul, Rudi and Dedi, the babies were born in top form! Three menus were hence created for our Rama, Shinta and Bendega restaurants. Very varied and full of inventions, they give an increasingly important place for vegetarian dishes and local specialties. Each dish has been deeply evaluated in terms of freshness, texture, taste and presentation. Moreover, everyday, a dish-of-the-day is proposed to our guests, which recipe is decided very early in the morning depending on the market.
