Our guests often refer in their comments to the lush garden of Dajuma, qualified as “manicured garden”. It is not only true for its 1,5 ha which surrounds the villas, but also the case for the private gardens which are facing the entrance of our Bendega villas. The idea came one year and a half ago from our GM Alit to make growing different species, fruit on the West side and flowers on the East side of the Bendega villas. The result after a few months if just astonishing. Can you imagine, when opening the door of your room in the morning, having view on passion fruit, mangoes, papayas and dragon fruits, just for you? On March 31st, took place an important ceremony at Dajuma, called Piodalan / Puja Wali, aimed at honoring our main temple. Every temple in Bali has its own Piodalan day, based on when the temple was inaugurated. Two references are used to determine the day of the Piodalan, which can be either based on Pawukon (Balinese weekly calendar), in this case the ceremony will be held twice a year or based on Sasih (Saka Calendar) for which the ceremony will be held once a year (mostly on full moon day).
Our lovely temple at Dajuma has its Piodalan on the full moon of the tenth month (Purnama Kedasa) every year and this year it was on 31st March 2018. Piodalan is like anniversary for the temple, its purpose being to keep the balance of the 3 relations which is creates the harmony of the life according to the Tri Hita Karana philosophy: harmony between the human and the God, harmony between the human and environment and harmony between humans themselves. On the pictures, our staff beautifully dressed with ceremony clothes, accompanied by our guests immersed in the heart of the Balinese culture.

One of the magics of Bali is the extraordinary variety of its fruits and vegetables. On the fertil slopes of the volcanoes, can grow almost any kind of fruit trees and vegetables. The coconut is particularly appreciated because of the recognized vertues of its juice for health. But not only. At Dajuma our guests can also enjoy other healthy drinks (we call them “healthy coolers”) made from carrot, orange, ginger, broccoli, avocado, mint, turmeric and tamarin that you can drink as much as you like.

Last saturday, took place the Balinese New Year 1940 in the Saka calendar, the famous holy day called Nyepi. Imagine the island totally quiet, the airport closed, and all Balinese families staying at home, praying and meditating for one full day.
Indispensable companion of Nyepi, a few days before, was the Melasti purification ceremony. Melasti was meant as the ritual to cleanse the world from all the filth of sin and bad karma, through the symbolic act of acquiring the Tirta Amerta, “the water of life”.
At Dajuma, as shown on the picture, Meslasti was celebrated with our guests according to the tradition on the edge of the beach with the aim to purify oneself of all the bad things in the past and throw it to the ocean. Selamat Hari Raya Nyepi!

Marker of the year in the tourism industry, ITB Berlin took place this year from March 7th to 11th. Like in 2017, Dajuma was lucky enough this year to participate as exhibitor in the Indonesia Pavillion, a unique opportunity to meet our partners and to understand the new trends in the market place. We like this specific moment in the year where we have time to exchange experiences with our colleagues and partners and find new ideas in order to make our guests even more happy. The organisation of the Indonesian Pavillion was just perfect thanks to the professionalism of Wonderful Indonesia organisation and the Ministry of Tourism. Many thanks guys for supporting so brilliantly our activities!

Last week, we had a nice surprise when welcoming a young couple from California, carrying a beautiful photo album prepared by someone very dear to our hearts, Camille Duclot.
Excellent photographer, Camille made several trips to Dajuma and knotted with our staff relations of friendship that endure over time. Her kindness and joie de vivre is reflected in each page of this wonderful album. A million thanks Camille! When will you come back to see us?

This emblematic animal from Bali is used to take a bath every day in the river close to Dajuma. Driven to the river by our neighbor farmer they spend quite a long time in the water with their babies. Just by looking at them, we can see how good they feel. The farmer says that  « it is a tradition in Bali to bath the buffalos because they like it and feel good after. And a buffalo feeling good is a buffalo who works well ». Next time you go strolling on the West beach in the direction of Medewi surfing spot just before sunset, don’t miss this spectacle : it is really something to see !

Because of its proximity to the cradle of Jegog music, it was natural for Dajuma to invest in one of these beautiful Jegog instruments, made entirely by hand from bamboo and teak wood by skilled craftsmen from the nearby villages. Our guests often ask us to discover the Balinese culture whose music and dance are essential points of reference. Many of our employees know how to play this instrument and are happy to introduce our guests to this special music. Why special? Because it generates sounds and vibrations that touch you deep within yourself.
This new instrument is a useful addition to the Balinese dance classes given every week by the Pekutatan Dance School on the Dajuma stage. We hope you will like it!

Prominent on the sea with its special rocky landscape, the beach in front of Dajuma is often the place where people like to contemplate, to share wishes or to recollect after a decease.
Last Monday was the 5th anniversary about Indra’s accident, on a Monday afternoon too.
Indra’s wife and daughters as well as his close friends and colleagues were happy to gather with offerings to remember about him and his central place in Dajuma’s story during 12 years.
