DAJUMA BEACHES

8 October 2018/in Beach, Dajuma, News, Sport, Surfing, West Bali

Our guests are often posing the question: “Is it safe to swim in the sea from Dajuma? And what kind of beach is it, sand or rocks? And what kind of sand? Very important questions when you plan to stay for some days isn’t it?
Let’s answer as precisely as possible: yes it is possible to swim in the sea as long as you respect the warning flag (yellow=go, red=nogo). We recommend to swim on the West beach which is very safe for swimming, surfing and bodyboarding. Despite the fact the East beach is everyday used by local lobsters fishermen, we do not recommend to swim there because of currents.
Depending on the tides, the sand of our beaches is either volcanic or coral-sand i.e. either dark or light as shown on the picture. In both cases, it is very soft under your feet with no risk to be hurt during your swimming sessions. Last but not least, just in front of Dajuma is a cape which discovers itself on 200 meters at each low tide, a true paradise for kids (and birds…) who would like to discover the underwater life. It is also the preferred place of local fishermen fishing from the seashore. See you soon in our swimming paradise!

AN AMAZING ANNIVERSARY

1 October 2018/in Dajuma, News, People, Restaurant, Wedding, West Bali

Friday night, our guests could hear a nice music in the garden coming from an unusual place close to our Spa. When approaching, they could see an amazing arrangement: the Gazebo entirely decorated for a romantic dinner, closeby, a celebration area also superbly decorated and, between the two, a traditional Rindik orchestra so typical of Bali, composed of 3 players from the surrounding villages.
All this spectacular set-up was arranged by our staff to celebrate the 25th Wedding Anniversary of our guests Mircea & Carmen from Romania. They decided to celebrate it in a little bit unique and different atmosphere in Dajuma. Starting with a blessing wedding ceremony on the beach, then took place the main blessing ceremony, ending up with a romantic dinner accompanied by the traditional Rindik music.
Congratulations dear Carmen and Mircea!

“BETTER BREATHING” AT DAJUMA

24 September 2018/in Dajuma, Eco-Resort, News, West Bali, Yoga

Have you ever heard about the « WIM HOF METHOD » (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VaMjhwFE1Zw)? We were very pleasantly surprised when, last week-ned, our good friend Alex, founder of BookGreener, offered to our guests a very interesting workshop about this method and the way to improve our breathing with a lot of positive consequences on our bodies (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_BlKONskhK0). All participants were absolutely astonished by the outcome of the workshop: a really good feeling, most of them being able to double or even triple their breath capacity after only 30 mn exercising, up to 4’30” for one of them. But this « Better Breathing » step is just the beginning of a long and exciting story. Next step of the method consists in cold exposure by plunging your body into a cold bath, with even better positive effects on your body. We believe that this method will perfectly complement our wellness activities in our Spa. Why don’t you send your opinion about that by reacting to this blog? In any case, we will keep you posted! Cheers!

WORLD CLEAN UP DAY

17 September 2018/in Dajuma, Eco-Resort, Jembrana, Nature, News, Social Responsibility, West Bali

As waste management is progressing in Bali, Puri Dajuma took the opportunity to be an actor in Jembrana regency on the occasion of last Saturday’s worldwide “Clean Up Day”.
Located just after the well known Medewi surf break, Yeh Sumbul’s large beach was the place chosen for this event.
Here gathered in a friendly atmosphere, villagers, hotels employees from Pekutatan and Medewi, guests, students and teachers from the Junior High school. After they added pieces of garbage on several heaps, the participants had some food and beverage while listening the speeches from the authorities about the sense of this great day.
On the picture the Dajuma team wears its large specific juter bags made on purpose to replace plastic bags.
Thanks to our 8 pillars eco-policy (http://www.dajuma.com/#eco-resort) we do our utmost to limit our impact on our exceptional environment. But, to be honest, it is not always easy because so many wrappings made of plastic are still in use in the daily life of Balinese. It is particularly true for straws: we already exchanged them for bamboo straws some years ago. Every friday, our staff also cleans all around the resort involving as much as possible the villages’ young generations. But there is still a long way to go…

Cacao from West Bali and VALRHONA

10 September 2018/in Jembrana, News, Tours, West Bali

Many people knowing Bali feel suprised when they discover Jembrana Regency, the West wing of the island where Dajuma is located. Here the nature is preserved. In and along the West Bali National Park, the farms grow corn and high quality rices, coconut, rubber, clove, coffee and all sorts of tropical fruit such as mango, papaya, passion fruit, pineapple, watermelon, mangosteen, not forgetting, of course, the famous « Durian ».
It is also the place where more than 500 farmers collect cacao beans. Not suprising that the Valrhona company, the famous French provider of the best cacao nibs and chocolate required by professionals since 1922, get involved. After 3 years co-working with KSS cooperative (Kerta Samaya Samania cooperative), Valrhona has launched “Cuvée Sakanti Bali 68%” in 2016.
Last week, Dajuma had the pleasure to welcome 3 delegations of Valrhona customers and employees, totalizing one hundred people. Pastry Chefs of their partner companies made a presentation of their chocolate products. They also practiced with the farmers to make a delicious dessert using the West Bali chocolate and some local fruits and herbs. Pastry chef of the first group came from China, Singapore and Taiwan second group from Hongkong, Korea and Bali and the last group from Japan.
Following human values in the heart of the company, each delegation had the opportunity to visit the plantations, look at the harvesting process, taste samples and cook some delicious cakes. A wonderful moment of sharing experiences and know-how, crowned at night with Balinese dances accompanied by a Jegog orchestra under the stars.

“JINENG”: A PEARL OF THE BALINESE HERITAGE

3 September 2018/in Bali, Culture, Dajuma, News

The Traditional Storage Jineng is one of the traditional Balinese buildings which is inherited from the elders. In the past Jineng was built as a rice barn/rice storage and other harvests. The part under the storage is usually used for relaxing or enjoying a coffee/tea with family or guest. For Balinese people, behind the uniqueness of Jineng, there is a philosophy of life which is taught us about how we could being productive, live frugally as a way to sustain prosperous life in a sustainable manner. Because of its uniqueness, Jineng still exists till present, even now people build a Jineng as a bedroom, some hotels in Bali use the concept and the shape of Jineng, like what we have in Dajuma, our two bedroom wooden villa (Pondok Segara Villa) has the Jineng shape. For the people who live in rural areas and have Jineng at home, they use Jineng as a ceremonial stuff storage.
“Let’s keep the tradition and culture for our next generation” is our motto at Dajuma!

MEDEWI BOARDRIDERS CHALLENGE 2018

27 August 2018/in News, Sport, Surfing, West Bali

The MBR were holding their open surfing contest challenge last weekend at the famous long left hand wave at Medewi. This unmissable event is particularly interesting because it brings together the best surfers in Indonesia with foreign surfers, sometimes coming from far away. Dajuma being located not far from the competition venue (5 minutes by free shuttle or 15 minutes walk by the beach) has attracted this year many surf amateurs, happy to share real emotions in the best possible comfort. Long live the surf!

Dajuma Cultural Experience: Jagatnatha Temples

20 August 2018/in Bali, Culture, News, Tours

In Bali there are three famous public temples called Jagatnatha Temples respectively located in Denpasar, Buleleng and Jembrana regencies.
In Jembrana regency, it is situated in Negara City, 25 km from Dajuma. Its erection started in 1996 and was completed in 2002. This one has several specific features compared with the others: a very beautiful architecture and, above all, a 40 meters high « Padmasana » (looking like a tower), which makes it the highest among the three temples. In this temple the people worships Sang Hyang Jagatnatha as the king and the protector of the Universe. The most important ceremony is held once a year (second full moon of Balinese calendar), the Hindu people prays in this temple not only during the temple ceremony but also in other holy days. In the Nista Mandala (outside area) of the temple there is an open stage that is usually used for performing Balinese dances, traditional music and other arts. It also has a beautiful garden. Jembrana government is currently developing a 5.4 hectares piece of land, behind the JagatnathaTemple, as a botanical garden which is still under construction and is targeted to be completed by the end of this year. A holy place which definitively deserves to be visited next time you decide to come over!
