RAINY SEASON STARTED IN BALI Puri Dajuma, Beach Eco-Resort & Spa, West Bali Dajuma

RAINY SEASON STARTED IN BALI

19 November 2018/in Dajuma, Nature, News, West Bali

The rainy season in Bali is used to last from November to March with sometimes incursions in the dry season and vice-versa. This year the rainy season starts on time to the great joy of farmers and gardeners! But the questions often asked by our guests willing to visit Bali are “Is it worthwile to visit Bali during the rainy season? How strong is the rain? How long every day? Is’nt it too wet?” Legitimate questions when they are going to spend hours in a plane to get here! First of all we have to keep in mind that raining in Bali has nothing to do with heavy rain we can meet in some South East Asia countries such as Thaïland. In Bali, there is no monsoon. The answer is also very depending on where you plan to stay in Bali. Close to the mountains you will get more rain than on the coast. In Dajuma, the rain falls only a few hours every day, often in the night and the consequences on the nature and your stay are more than positive: flowers blooming and green grass everywhere in the garden, no dust, wetness limited by the breeze from the sea, and, cherry on the cake, contrasted skies offering breathtaking sunsets as shown on the picture. What could we dream of better?

READING: ANOTHER EXPERIENCE IN DAJUMA

12 November 2018/in Dajuma, Eco-Resort, News, West Bali

Among greatest pleasures we can have during our vacation, reading books in inspiring locations such as Dajuma comes in the first positions. Not so fashionable compared with reading on smartphones and tablets? Not true! The idea and the pictures of this blog come from one of our guest, fond of reading. Hence, year after year our library had enriched with books left by our guests from all around the world, in all languages. Installed in a comfortable long chair with the breeze of the ocean and the song of the birds as companions, is there a better place where to savor a good book?

DAJUMA EXPERIENCE: FISHING OFFSHORE

6 November 2018/in Beach, Dajuma, Fishing, News, Restaurant, Sport, West Bali

Dajuma is located next door the fishermen village of Pekutatan and our beach supervisor Jupry, himself son of fisherman, is always happy to invite our guests to go fishing offshore. This is what happened last monday, when our repeater guest Bastian from Germany embarked with Jupry on a traditional praho very early in the morning around 6 a.m., enjoying a beautiful sunrise on the ocean. Bastian was lucky enough to catch a big mackerel fish and he asked our kitchen team to cook it for his dinner. Well done Bastian and Selamat Makan!

NEW CYCLING TOUR “TEMBLES”

29 October 2018/in Dajuma, News, Tours, West Bali
Is there anything more authentic than discovering a new place by cycling? At Dajuma we encourage as much as possible this way of visiting our area where, behind each curve of the small roads, there is something ubuffanbuffaique to discover. Let’s take an example with our brand new tour called “Tembles Discovery”.  You start from Dajuma around 8 a.m. in our adventure jeep, the bicycles in the back. After 30 mn drive you reach a traditional Balinese village called Tembles which is the starting point of your cycling tour along the rice fields. You will visit the House of Jegog (traditional music from West Bali), the village primary school, the traditional market and the very holy Rambut Siwi Temple at the end. You are back at Dajuma around 12, ready for the lunch.

DAJUMA AT ITB ASIA 2018

22 October 2018/in Dajuma, Eco-Resort, News, West Bali

Happy to be part of the 1000 selected exhibitors, another important appointment for Dajuma this year was our participation in ITB Asia. The event took place at the emblematic Sands Expo and Convention Centre in Marina Bay Sands, Singapore from 17 to 19 October 2018, a three-day conference and exhibition recording an impressive 25,000 business appointments. The exhibition hosted more than 1,000 exhibitors and over 1,000 buyers this year, representing more than 127 countries. The trend is definitively in favor of sustainable and eco-responsible tourism, travellers looking for more and more valuable and off-the beaten tracks experiences. What is exactly our raison d’être and motto!

If there is one thing to bring to the Hall of Nautical Games, it’s definitely the toboggan! Everybody remembers from the childhood the mix of fear and exitement when one discovered for the first time this slope full of water. This is exactly what our guests are saying about out slide linking the 2 pools of our Bendega swimming pool. Kids and parents enjoy a lot this unusual pool with its 45 meters long swimming lane, suspendend whirlpool tub and the famous slide. Not to be missed next time you decide to visit us!

DAJUMA BEACHES

8 October 2018/in Beach, Dajuma, News, Sport, Surfing, West Bali

Our guests are often posing the question: “Is it safe to swim in the sea from Dajuma? And what kind of beach is it, sand or rocks? And what kind of sand? Very important questions when you plan to stay for some days isn’t it?
Let’s answer as precisely as possible: yes it is possible to swim in the sea as long as you respect the warning flag (yellow=go, red=nogo). We recommend to swim on the West beach which is very safe for swimming, surfing and bodyboarding. Despite the fact the East beach is everyday used by local lobsters fishermen, we do not recommend to swim there because of currents.
Depending on the tides, the sand of our beaches is either volcanic or coral-sand i.e. either dark or light as shown on the picture. In both cases, it is very soft under your feet with no risk to be hurt during your swimming sessions. Last but not least, just in front of Dajuma is a cape which discovers itself on 200 meters at each low tide, a true paradise for kids (and birds…) who would like to discover the underwater life. It is also the preferred place of local fishermen fishing from the seashore. See you soon in our swimming paradise!

AN AMAZING ANNIVERSARY

1 October 2018/in Dajuma, News, People, Restaurant, Wedding, West Bali

Friday night, our guests could hear a nice music in the garden coming from an unusual place close to our Spa. When approaching, they could see an amazing arrangement: the Gazebo entirely decorated for a romantic dinner, closeby, a celebration area also superbly decorated and, between the two, a traditional Rindik orchestra so typical of Bali, composed of 3 players from the surrounding villages.
All this spectacular set-up was arranged by our staff to celebrate the 25th Wedding Anniversary of our guests Mircea & Carmen from Romania. They decided to celebrate it in a little bit unique and different atmosphere in Dajuma. Starting with a blessing wedding ceremony on the beach, then took place the main blessing ceremony, ending up with a romantic dinner accompanied by the traditional Rindik music.
Congratulations dear Carmen and Mircea!

“BETTER BREATHING” AT DAJUMA

24 September 2018/in Dajuma, Eco-Resort, News, West Bali, Yoga

Have you ever heard about the « WIM HOF METHOD » (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VaMjhwFE1Zw)? We were very pleasantly surprised when, last week-ned, our good friend Alex, founder of BookGreener, offered to our guests a very interesting workshop about this method and the way to improve our breathing with a lot of positive consequences on our bodies (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_BlKONskhK0). All participants were absolutely astonished by the outcome of the workshop: a really good feeling, most of them being able to double or even triple their breath capacity after only 30 mn exercising, up to 4’30” for one of them. But this « Better Breathing » step is just the beginning of a long and exciting story. Next step of the method consists in cold exposure by plunging your body into a cold bath, with even better positive effects on your body. We believe that this method will perfectly complement our wellness activities in our Spa. Why don’t you send your opinion about that by reacting to this blog? In any case, we will keep you posted! Cheers!

WORLD CLEAN UP DAY

17 September 2018/in Dajuma, Eco-Resort, Jembrana, Nature, News, Social Responsibility, West Bali

As waste management is progressing in Bali, Puri Dajuma took the opportunity to be an actor in Jembrana regency on the occasion of last Saturday’s worldwide “Clean Up Day”.
Located just after the well known Medewi surf break, Yeh Sumbul’s large beach was the place chosen for this event.
Here gathered in a friendly atmosphere, villagers, hotels employees from Pekutatan and Medewi, guests, students and teachers from the Junior High school. After they added pieces of garbage on several heaps, the participants had some food and beverage while listening the speeches from the authorities about the sense of this great day.
On the picture the Dajuma team wears its large specific juter bags made on purpose to replace plastic bags.
Thanks to our 8 pillars eco-policy (http://www.dajuma.com/#eco-resort) we do our utmost to limit our impact on our exceptional environment. But, to be honest, it is not always easy because so many wrappings made of plastic are still in use in the daily life of Balinese. It is particularly true for straws: we already exchanged them for bamboo straws some years ago. Every friday, our staff also cleans all around the resort involving as much as possible the villages’ young generations. But there is still a long way to go…
