In a very joyful ambiance, Audrey and Matthieu from France got married at Dajuma last week, with all their family and friends around them. After the Hindu blessing in the garden performed by our priest Kadek, the exchange of rings followed by a “vin d’honneur” took place on the beach at sunset. A delicious dinner was served on the new Bendega pool deck with some breaks devoted to Balinese traditional dances, the launch on Chinese lanterns on the sea and a beautiful fireworks. Finally a talentuous modern orchestra from Negara took over for the rest of the party.
We wish Audrey and Matthieu to make a dream of their life and to make of their dream a daily reality. All the best!

Where is the best place  to unwind during summertime after a long and hectic professional year? The answer is definitively here at Dajuma, far from the hustle and bustle of big cities, where our staff will have thousands of attentions to make your stay unforgettable.
Let’s take an example of a perfect day in paradise: wake-up in the morning not too late to see the dawn while strolling on the beach for one hour. Around eight, time for breakfast in the garden just in front of the spectacular cape where hundreds of birds are playing with the tide. After that, it’s time for activities such as yoga, sporting or touring around the nearby authentic West Bali. After the lunch taken in one of our 3 restaurants perhaps would you like to make a break like this nice lady on the picture or join our wellness center for a revigorating massage. The dusk coming around 6:30 p.m. it is time to savor a delicious cocktail  before dining in a romantic atmosphere either on the beach or in front of one of our Teppanyaki cook. A day fully occupied, perfectly balanced between physical and cultural activities, where the master word is “relax”!

Last week took place a sympathetic wedding party at Dajuma with more than 90 guests. After receiving the Hindu blessing in the priest’s house in Griya, the just married Yves from Belgium and Ari from Pekutatan invited their respective families and friends to a joyful party in Dajuma gardens where a delicous buffet, a traditional Jegog orchestra and Balinese dances enchanted the guests. On behalf of Dajuma, we would like to congratulate Yves and Ari and wish them an everlasting happyness!

One among many other facets of Balinese culture is the importance of learning music and dance in each and every family. From their youngest age, Balinese children are used to learn from their parents how to play music and perform these beautiful ritual dances. Once they are skilled enough, they start playing in their own children orchestra. How proud they are to show their art on Dajuma stage from time to time ! On the picture, the children orchestra from Pekutatan village, mostly composed of our staff ’s children.

A few steps from your room is the West sandy beach, just perfect for learning this beautiful sport. Jupry, our beach supervisor born in the nearby village, practices surfing since his childhood and will be delighted to accompany you.
After a few hours of learning, you will be able to discover the famous surfing spot of Medewi,  where surfers from all around the world are used to compete. Medewi is located  a few minutes from our place, accessible either by foot along the beach, by boat or by car. A free shuttle is at the disposal of our guests in this respect.

Recently, our guest and friend Sam from Plymouth in the UK has been invited to give a speech on the occasion of the anniversary of the Pekutatan Tourism School. He was very pleased to provide some guidance to the students and explain from the viewpoint of the guest what is important in a hotel in terms of service and relationship with the staff. Sam and his wife Tery are both nurses at the public hospital of Plymouth and used to spend their holidays, a few weeks every year, at Puri Dajuma.  The best and useful way to convey the “voice of the customer” to these future hotel staff. Terima kasih banyak Sam!

146 METRES CARVING FOR THE NEW BENDEGA VILLAS!

Jembrana is the largest regency in Bali, mainly known for its wild nature and its National Park.
It still hides a lot of gems in terms of Balinese culture, apart from any tourism industry.
One of them is Made Agus Martika, who decided to become a traditional wood carver at 16.
After he finished his SMK 3 years cursus in the famous International Gambeh school close to Tabanan 13 years ago, he began to work in Pekutatan.
You will not miss the so fine and long carvings he realized for the Bendega villa programme in Puri Dajuma, just using a set of blades together with a big square wood hammer.
Which is 146 meters of carved wood, enhancing every window, door and bay window, some of them so long that he had to wait to get the appropriated wood.
Agus is Padmi’s brother, our highly appreciated waitress in the restaurants: happy parents!

INAUGURATION OF OUR NEW BENDEGA VILLAS

Last Friday took place the inauguration of our new Bendega villas in a very warm and friendly atmosphere. Our main partners, suppliers, neighbours, officials and friends who are supporting Dajuma since the beginning of our venture in 2002 were present on this occasion. After a welcoming dance performed by the dancers of the school of Pekutatan, our kitchen team prepared a buffet made of delicious tapas in the « Balinese way » on the pool deck overlooking the ocean while the kids of our guests were jumping and sliding in the 60 m long overflowing swimming pool. Just to give you an idea about the new villas: 70 workers have been working on this project over a period of 18 months, the concrete of the huge pool was cast with 750 m3  in less than one day, almost 100’000 iron wood  tiles were installed on the roofs, 150 m of decorative wood was carved above the windows and the doors… A wonderful achievement in the pure respect of our natural environment!

Our Bendega Villas will officially open their doors on May 1st but our guests could not wait until then and decided to test the water slide connecting the 2 new pools immediately. A nice moment of relax reminding our childhood! With its 45 m lane leading to a first 16 x 8 m basin and a whirlpool tub, the water slide connects to another basin located 2,5 m below. A nice waterfall overflows from the whirlpool tub to the second basin. In total 570 m3 of prestine water flowing continously by gravity exactly like a natural river, which saves a lot of energy.
