The dedication and perseverance have truly paid off for our restaurant supervisor Hendra who recently earned a well-deserved Bachelor’s Degree in Tourism (Sarjana terapan pariwisata (S.Tr.Par)). Balancing a demanding job and a busy family life with two children is no small feat, yet he managed to achieve this milestone with remarkable grace. We are often asked the question “how is the rainy season in Bali“? The only possible response is “definitively nice”, as it enhances the island’s natural splendor and  it rains only a few moments in the day, often during the night. But the most amazing, are the sunsets during this season which are nothing short of unforgettable, as shown on the picture taken from the terrace of our Rama restaurant (Photo guaranteed without any treatment). Last week we had the pleasure of celebrating Samantha’s birthday. A special decoration for her bed was prepared in great secrecy by our staff while her parents and brother hosted a special dinner at our Rama restaurant. Our restaurant team has set up a special table decorated in Balinese style. One more good memory to bring back from the Island of the Gods. Happy Birthday dear Samantha!

TRAINING IN DAJUMA

Since their creation a few years ago, the hotel schools in West Bali have earned a solid reputation. We are pleased to welcome dozens of their trainees each year from SMK 5 Negara (our neighbor) as well as OTC and Politknik Negeri Bali for training sessions in the field. We offer them a wide range of practical training in all departments of the hotel: housekeeping, catering, front desk, wellness, etc. At the moment we are training 29 highly motivated trainees. In the photo, our supervisor Hendra is at work in the Rama restaurant, explaining the intricacies of room service with a group of students. Welcome to the new generation!

MAGIC MOMENT AT DAJUMA

This week Ukraine is in the spotlight in Dajuma. We had the pleasure of welcoming the Lukach family for two nights, who were happily surprised to receive a romantic dinner on the beach as a gift from one of their friends. This had not happened for a long time – the island having received only 45 foreign tourists in 2021 … against more than 6 million in 2019 (https://thebalisun.com/only-45-international-tourists-visited-bali-in-2021/). Needless to say, the Lukach family were particularly taken care of during this dinner. A special decoration was prepared by our gardeners while our Chef concocted one of his specialties. A magical moment!

BALINESE DELICACIES

This week we had the pleasure of welcoming one of our dear loyal customers who usually visits Bali once or twice a year. Like many other Bali lovers, he suffered from not being able to come for 18 months and, to the question, what did you miss the most during this period, the answer was instantaneous: the “nasi campur“, one of the delicious specialties of Bali with the rijsttafel. Our chef was quick to cook one as shown in the photo: on the plate a combination of the flavors of yellow rice, colored by turmeric (nasi kuning), tempe goreng, plain omelet (telur dadar), chicken shredded with red seasoning (ayam sisit), fried noodles (mie goreng) and shrimp crackers (kerupuk udang). A wonderful Balinese delight!

NOSTALGIA FOR BALINESE CUISINE

The reopening of the Bali airport to international flights approaching, we can not help but think of all that we will find in the pleasures of life in this island so aptly named the Island of the Gods: a prolific nature, exceptional human relations, breathtaking landscapes, constant serenity, and, icing on the cake (no pun intended!), an exceptional cuisine inherited from multiple local, European and Asian influences. A good example shown in the photo, is the tasty “rijsttafel” recently served in our Rama restaurant, a Dutch word that literally translates to “rice table”. It is an elaborate Indonesian meal adapted by the Dutch consisting of many side dishes (up to fourty sometimes), small portions served in banana leaves, accompanied by rice prepared in different ways. Popular side dishes include egg rolls, sambals, satay, fish, fruits, vegetables, pickles, and nuts. Let’s hope a return to normal as soon as possible!
