JOGED BUMBUNG DANCE AT DAJUMA

Last week in Dajuma took place an evening show featuring the famous traditional Balinese dances accompanied by the Gamelan Jegog orchestra. Born in West Bali a few kilometers from Dajuma, the gamelan jegog is one of the most impressive sounding ensembles in the world. It is an orchestra of bamboo marimbas, with keys (tubes) ranging from small to gigantic. The largest tubes, up to three meters long, are used for the bass jegog, for which the ensemble is named. The vibrations created by the instruments are transmitted through the ground to your own body, creating a unique feeling of wellness. At the end of the show, the guests are invited to dance on the stage the other famous Joged Bumbung dance. A nice moment of sharing!

OFFERINGS ON THE BEACH

All around Bali is the tradition of offerings called “canang” (pronounce “chanang”). Every day, in every place, private, public or professional, Balinese are used to dispose these small square baskets made from cut coconut leaves, filled with flowers accompanied by an assortment of gifts for the Gods and crowned by a single stick of incense. The “canang” has a strong meaning in Balinese beliefs: it is not only a gift of gratitude to the Gods but also a kind of self sacrifice, part-meditation and part-escape from the buzz of everyday life.
On the picture, family Klein from South Africa decided to share with our staff in sunset, a unique moment of meditation on the beach by offering to the Gods the offerings they prepared in the afternoon. Om santi santi santi om…

Balinese floral decoration

Among many other special customs, Bali is the place in the world where the know-how of floral decorations is probably at the top! Made from flowers, bamboo, coconut or banana leaves, these decorations adorn houses and temples in Bali and many of our guests make the most of their stay with us by learning about this beautiful tradition. This is what happened last week with family Liertz from Germany whose father is learning from our staff as shown on the picture.

MORNING’ GREETING

One specific feature of Dajuma is the special relationship between our staff and young kids. In all parts of the resort, a special attention is given to them in terms of equipment such as swings, slide, balls, buoys, wading pools, etc. But the most important is definitively the communication between our staff and these young guests. Like on the picture where Juliarta, our restaurant supervisor, is greeting a young 2 years boy called Lyam. Welcome kids and enjoy!

CONGRATULATIONS TO YVES AND ARI FOR THEIR WEDDING!

Last week took place a sympathetic wedding party at Dajuma with more than 90 guests. After receiving the Hindu blessing in the priest’s house in Griya, the just married Yves from Belgium and Ari from Pekutatan invited their respective families and friends to a joyful party in Dajuma gardens where a delicous buffet, a traditional Jegog orchestra and Balinese dances enchanted the guests. On behalf of Dajuma, we would like to congratulate Yves and Ari and wish them an everlasting happyness!

Small present, Great feeling

At the end of their stay, after they enjoyed the Dajuma’s specific atmosphere, the view and the air of the cape at its closest during their meals in the garden, and to reward the great service provided by our staff, a couple of guests from the Netherlands offers this finely decorated pebble. It now adorns our big lamp in the restaurant as a souvenir of their stay.

A NEW FRIEND

This young girl enjoy playing a lot around the statue which adorns our 20×10 m overflowing swimming pool.
She seems willing to make a new friend, active as pouring water, but quite impressive as it does not move.
An opportunity to compare this strange but beautiful Lady with the woman she would like to become later ?

SURPRISE BIRTHDAY FOR ANNA!

A beautiful tradition in our hotel is to celebrate birthdays of our guests by surprise. This is what happened recently with Anna from France, for her 13th anniversary. After a delicious dinner served in our Teppanyaki restaurant, suddenly the lights went out and a beautiful anniversary cake prepared in secret by the kitchen brought to their table together with a nice decoration hat. What a surprise! Happy birthday Anna!

Our staff always dreamt about the best possible English courses. And the dream became true thanks to our repeating guests Mr and Mrs Bruce Campbell from Australia!
Bruce and his wife Frances are used to come to Dajuma for years. They are very appreciated by the staff and the nearby villagers. They kindly proposed to organise English lessons to the benefit of our staff and trainees, proposal which was received with enthusiasm and gratitude by everybody.
One million thanks Bruce and Frances! Thanks to you our staff will be able to speak English with the best possible accent!

2014 has been rich for Dajuma from many points of view: completion of the renovation program of our cottages, 4 stars ranking from the Indonesian Association of Hoteliers, nomination to the Green Tec Awards and the World Luxury Hotels Awards and most importantly, a lot of positive feed-backs from our guests.
We selected one  which is for all Dajuma staff very meaningful insofar as it  translates perfectly the spirit of our hotel: authenticity, serenity and harmony.
