This year, the Dajuma Beach team went on a staff outing to Mount Batur. Let them express their feeling about this experience :
« We do this every two years, and everyone always looks forward to it. A group of 48 of us headed out for three days and two nights. Our goal was to explore the wild beauty of Kintamani caldera and Batur volcano. We stayed in a cozy glamping hotel, right in the middle of nature. It was close to the latest lava flow, which made it feel really exciting. Seeing the volcano up close reminded us how powerful and fragile nature is. We hiked, laughed, and shared lots of fun moments together. Everyone felt happy and relaxed, enjoying a break from daily work. By the end, we all felt closer as a team and full of great memories. »

Among the many activities offered to our guests at Dajuma Terrace, one stands out as particularly special — the traditional rice harvesting, which takes place two to three times each year. Just last week, our guests Juergen, Gabriele, and Claudia had an unforgettable experience joining local villagers in this age-old tradition. They learned how to harvest rice using traditional tools and techniques, gaining a deeper appreciation for the Balinese way of life. The activity offered not only a meaningful cultural connection but also the joy of warm interaction with the community and breathtaking views of the surrounding rice fields.

At Dajuma Beach, we bring that dream to life with our unique tour: “Ecotourism at Pekutatan”. Just next door to the hotel lies a vast state-owned plantation spanning over 1,000 hectares—a stunning blend of wild jungle and cultivated land. The adventure begins with a stop to witness how traditional palm sugar is made directly from palm trees. The journey then continues through riverbeds and plantations filled with coconuts, bananas, papayas, and rubber trees. Further along, guests will arrive at the heights of Bunut Bolong, where a one-hour trek unfolds along scenic paths bordered by coffee, rambutan, durian, vanilla and pineapple plants. The experience concludes with a relaxing lunch at a traditional warung set 400 meters above sea level, offering breathtaking panoramic views of the ocean. An exciting and enriching activity—perfect for both kids and adults.

MIRACULOUS FISHING AT DAJUMA BEACH!

Last week, our returning guest and good friend Bruce from Australia experienced an unforgettable fishing adventure. Accompanied by our beach manager Jufry and our neighbor Susyanto—who captained the prahu—Bruce set out early in the morning around 6 AM. Using a special lure called a Rapala, Bruce employed a technique known as trolling, where the bait is dragged behind a moving boat to entice fish. His patience and skill paid off when he landed an extraordinary catch: a Cobia, weighing approximately 20 kg and measuring 125 cm in length. These powerful fish can grow up to 78 kg, making Bruce’s catch an impressive one! In the spirit of generosity, Bruce gifted the fish to the local fishermen. It was a day to remember, filled with excitement, camaraderie, and a shared love of the sea.

SURF FESTIVAL AT DAJUMA

The practice of surf at Dajuma Beach is a hidden gem for wave lovers. Ideally located just a stone’s throw from the famous Medewi surf spot, it offers a quieter, more intimate experience.  Yesterday, Dajuma Beach transformed into a mini surf haven, with powerful yet safe waves unfurling onto the west sandy shore.  It was a rare and magical moment, drawing in both curious guests and experienced local surfers. The beach, usually calm, came alive with the energy of the ocean and the thrill of the ride. The waves were perfectly formed for all levels, from beginners to advanced. Surfboards lined the sand while laughter and cheers echoed with each successful ride. Nature gifted us a spontaneous surf session under the golden afternoon light. For guests seeking authentic, crowd-free surfing, Dajuma revealed its secret side. Moments like these remind us how special Bali’s west coast can be.

MELUKAT CEREMONY AT DAJUMA

Dajuma recently had the pleasure of welcoming a yoga group from Argentina. During their stay, the group experienced the Melukat ceremony—a sacred Hindu purification ritual in Bali, intended to cleanse the body and soul of negative energy and spiritual impurities. When performed on the beach, as shown in the photo, the ritual takes on even greater meaning. The sea is believed to possess powerful spiritual energy, deeply connected to healing and divine forces. Guided by a Balinese priest and accompanied by offerings and prayers, the ceremony is typically held on auspicious days, such as the full moon, or following personal hardships. Its purpose is to restore harmony, dispel misfortune, and promote spiritual renewal. The experience was deeply appreciated by our guests.

FISHING AT DAJUMA BEACH

Dajuma Beach has the privilege of sharing its beautiful sandy coastline with local fishermen, who set sail in their elegant praos each evening at sunset. They fish throughout the night, continuing a tradition passed down through generations. Another captivating fishing method can be seen from the shore, where skilled fishermen cast their nets with remarkable precision — a delightful spectacle to enjoy from Dajuma Beach’s tropical garden during happy hours!

VISIT OF PUPUAN SAWAH PRIMARY SCHOOL

As part of our eco-policy and our commitment to sustainability, we offer our guests various activities that connect them with local villagers—mainly farmers at Dajuma Terrace and fishermen at Dajuma Beach. One of the most popular experiences is the village walking tour, which allows guests to engage with the community, visit private houses and temples, explore the rice field irrigation system, observe prahu (traditional boat) construction, and, as a highlight, visit the local school. Last week, our guest Roland from Germany, had the opportunity to enjoy this enriching experience. Touched by their visit, he generously decided to gift a parcel to each pupil at the Pupuan Sawah school. Our colleague Gusti on the photo was in charge of conveying the parcels on behalf of Roland after his departure from Bali. Judging by the radiant smiles in the photos, it’s clear how meaningful this visit was for everyone involved!
