CONGRATULATIONS TO AUDREY AND MATTHIEU FOR THEIR WEDDING

16 August 2016/in Dajuma, News, People, Wedding

In a very joyful ambiance, Audrey and Matthieu from France got married at Dajuma last week, with all their family and friends around them. After the Hindu blessing in the garden performed by our priest Kadek, the exchange of rings followed by a “vin d’honneur” took place on the beach at sunset. A delicious dinner was served on the new Bendega pool deck with some breaks devoted to Balinese traditional dances, the launch on Chinese lanterns on the sea and a beautiful fireworks. Finally a talentuous modern orchestra from Negara took over for the rest of the party.
We wish Audrey and Matthieu to make a dream of their life and to make of their dream a daily reality. All the best!

FLORAL DECORATIONS AT DAJUMA

5 October 2015/in Dajuma, Nature, News, Tropical garden, Wedding

Another beautiful tradition in Dajuma consists in sophisticated floral decorations which are prepared by all the staff on the occasion of specific events such as anniversaries, honey moons, romantic dinners, wedding ceremonies and Balinese shows on stage.
Most of the staff on duty participates in the preparation of these nice decorations. Here on the picture, is Suadewi, one of our kitchen supervisors, who knows as well how to assemble beautiful  floral compositions and prepare savorous dishes!

Christmas & Galungan

22 December 2014/in Culture, Dajuma, News

This year is particular in Bali as the the celebrations of Galungan and Christmas fall almost at the same time : 17th and 25th.
Perhaps a sign that religions are sometimes converging. In any case it makes sense for Bali to celebrate Christmas as there are a lot of christians around the island.
For the night of Christmas, Dajuma will drive its guests willing to participate in the Christmas mass to the nearby christian church. Then after this moment of praying, they will be offered a delicious dinner (Peking Duck!) with a live orchestra.
Merry Christmas!

Metatah Ceremony

28 July 2014/in Culture, News, People

In the Hindu religion there are 5 great elements belonging to Mother Nature: earth, water, air, fire and space. The humankind being part of it, each of these powers must be strongly linked to the humans, our bones to the earth, our blood to the water, our energy to the air, our body temperature to the fire and all of the orifices of the human body to the space.
An important ceremony called Metatah in Bali consists in filing the teeth of boys and girls reaching the adult’s age. This small sacrifice is a purification exercise aimed at reinforcing the link between humans and the earth.
On the picture Gusti Ayu Meggy Andari from our staff’ families, just went through this important event, unique in her adults’ life. Our sincere congratulations!

Gandi’s Rajasewala ceremony

2 February 2014/in Culture, News, Pekutatan

Last Monday, our guests (Natacha on the right, with her traditional Kebaya dress) were invited to participate in a special ceremony in Pekutatan village.
Gandi, the son of our chief gardener Anom (smiling with the blue hat on the picture) went through his Rajasewala ceremony, an important ritual in the Hindu religion for all children, boys and girls, reaching 17 years old. The ceremony recognizes the transition from childhood to adulthood. On this occasion, Gandi received the blessing from the Gods, the priest, the family and the village community.
We wish him all the best in his adult life!

Pekutatan 30 years ceremony

7 October 2013/in News, Pekutatan, People, West Bali

For people familiar with Bali, there are numerous ceremonies, which are based on the 35 days Hindu calendar: 1 year, 5 years, 30 years and 100 years ceremony. All these rituals are written in the WEDA (Hindu Religious book). This year the 30 years ceremony or “Ngenteg Linggih” was performed at the village Temple. During this ceremony one brown Buffalo, one brown cow, one black lamb and one white duck are sacrificed and offered to the god. Pekutatan is composed of 6 Banjars or sub-villages where in total 1300 Hindu families live. Thereby Banjars have to establish a special schedule so that all their people can come to pray, dance and make offering. It was very colorful and entertaining. See you in 30 years…
