The celebration of the new year at Dajuma unfolded in a joyful and festive atmosphere, immersing guests in the rich cultural heritage of Bali. With the rhythmic beats of Jegog music, this traditional bamboo ensemble has set the stage for an enchanting evening, creating a harmonious blend of ancient and modern sounds and accompanying the famous Balinese dances on  the stage, weaving tales of mythology and folklore. Then live music took over with talented musicians and singers who added their contemporary flair to the evening. On midnight precisely, the night sky comes alive with bursts of brilliant fireworks, casting a kaleidoscope of colors over the Puri Dajuma grounds and signaling the arrival of a fresh chapter.
Chef Dedi and Rudi, the culinary maestros of Puri Dajuma, crafted with their team of cooks a delectable buffet that was a feast for the senses.
In the heart of Puri Dajuma, in the beautiful garden under the stars the celebration of the new year has been a grand spectacle this year, that leaves an indelible imprint on the hearts of all our guests who partaked in this enchanting experience. A NICE CHRISTMAS GIFT AT DAJUMA

Dajuma marked a double celebration with exuberance as it commemorated its 21st anniversary, a jubilant milestone coinciding with the festive spirit of Christmas. The joyous gathering brought together 42 dedicated staff members, a testament to the enduring commitment of most, who have been an integral part of the Dajuma family since its inception in 2002. Each staff member received  a parcel, symbolizing gratitude and appreciation for their longstanding contributions. The confluence of the two celebrations in the garden, under the stars, created a harmonious atmosphere, echoing the spirit of unity and shared success that defines Dajuma’s journey!

Saraswati Day in Bali, celebrated on December 16th, is a vibrant cultural occasion dedicated to the goddess of knowledge, Saraswati. On this special day, the  people of our neighbour village, including our hindu staff, engage in a unique purification ritual, immersing themselves in the ocean in front of Dajuma during the early morning hours. The sea, considered sacred, becomes a purifying medium as locals partake in prayers and offer blessings to seek wisdom and enlightenment. The rhythmic sounds of traditional ceremonies and the sight of devotees in colorful attire create a mesmerizing scene, showcasing Bali’s rich cultural tapestry. It’s a day where spirituality and natural beauty intertwine, fostering a deep connection with tradition and the divine. Happy Saraswati day!

WEDDING CELEBRATION AT DAJUMA

It sounds like a beautiful and memorable wedding celebration at Dajuma! Hosting a yoga group lead by Michael and Karin and having a wedding ceremony during the same event must have made it an even more special and unique experience for everyone involved. Michael’s leadership in organizing the wedding, the warm atmosphere, and the lovely decoration in front of our spa must have created a truly magical setting for Petra and Patrick’s special day.
Congratulations to Petra and Patrick on their wedding! May their journey together be filled with love, joy, and beautiful moments like this one. It’s wonderful that they were able to celebrate their love with their fellow group members, making it an even more meaningful occasion. 2 IMPORTANT CELEBRATIONS IN AUGUST

This month of August, because of the successive celebration of Galungan Kunigan from 2 to 12 of August and Independence Day on 17 of August, Bali came alive in a vibrant tapestry of culture. Streets adorned with intricate flower decorations and the elegant penjors, swaying gracefully overhead, create a mesmerizing atmosphere that blends tradition with festivity. Amidst this spectacle, Puri Dajuma participated actively to these events with special entertainment at night where joy and sharing intertwined seamlessly. The air is filled with laughter and a sense of unity as locals and our guests alike partake in the rich rituals, forging unforgettable memories that reflect Bali’s deep-rooted heritage of togetherness.

THE PUNYA FAMILY IN CELEBRATION

Last week, the family of Punya, our neighbour and member of our security team, was honored with 2 particularly important ceremonies, touching their 2 sons Calvin and Mang Ari. For both of them, the famous Mepandes ceremony was organized first. It consists in ensuring the filing of the canines, a highly symbolic gesture since it marks the passage to adulthood and authorizes marriage. As soon as this was done, Calvin immediately proceeded to marry the beautiful Eva. The day before the ceremony, they invited all friends and neighbours to share a moment with the family. As one of the staff of Puri Dajuma, Punia also invited all members of Dajuma staff to come to their house. Congratulations to the parents and the happy couple!

SURPRISE BIRTHDAY AT DAJUMA

Last week, Dajuma had the pleasure of welcoming a delightful mother and her daughter who used to stay with us often. This is the place they have chosen to celebrate a birthday on June 9th. The mother asked our staff to organize a surprise birthday with special decoration in the room and in the restaurant. What our staff hastened to do with their legendary good humour. Happy birthday!

HAPPY IDUL FITRI

As in the world, Muslims of Bali closed the month of fasting Ramadan last week with the traditional celebration of Idul Fitri. In Bali, it is celebrated with great enthusiasm and traditional customs. The streets are adorned with colorful decorations and people gather to offer prayers in mosques. Families exchange gifts and feast on delicious traditional dishes. The celebration lasted three days in a festive atmosphere made of joy, forgiveness and conviviality.

FULL MOON CELEBRATION

Last Wednesday, on April 5th, Dajuma and the nearby temple of Rambut Siwi held the Purnama or Full Moon Ceremony which takes place every month and is believed to purify body and soul.
The Balinese believe that during the full moon the spirits of their ancestors return to the island. They light candles and incense to guide them home and offer prayers for their blessings and guidance. The full moon ceremony in Bali is not just a religious event; it is a celebration of life and culture that is of great interest to our guests. METATAH FOR LELY

Last Sunday in the village, two families celebrated the Metatah ceremony which takes place when a teenager, boy or girl, reaches puberty or before his/her marriage. It is a passage to adulthood by which a holy priest smoothes six upper teeth symbolizing the six evils inside a human being: lust, greed, wrath, pride, jealousy and addiction. After the ceremony, a teenager is considered to be a mature adult freed from the six devils. Pictured, our nice restaurant waiter Lely was part of the ceremony together with her sisters and brother.
