TREK TO GUNUNG AGUNG

23 May 2022/in News

With its 3142 meters above sea level, the sacred Mount Agung is one of the very active volcanoes of Indonesia with 5 eruptions recorded since 2017. Indonesia thus has 77 active volcanoes of type A (i.e. with a recent history of eruptions) out of 130 in total. Climbing Mount Agung is a real challenge because its ascent from Besakhi temple requires 6 to 7 hours of sustained physical effort on difficult trails. However, this is what our client Heiko from Germany has chosen to do this week, a trek that is particularly close to his heart. Well done Heiko!

Dajuma’s escapades: Mount Agung

25 January 2021/in News

Among all treasures of the island of Bali, there is one particular, majestic and sacred: Mount Agung. For millennia, this stratovolcano has been revered by the Balinese who consider it is the center of the world. From the top of its 3100 meters, it dominates the surrounding fertile plains and attracts thousands of tourists every year.

About 900 meters above sea level on its southwest flank is the very sacred temple of Besakih regularly frequented by the faithful and very interesting to visit.

A unique escapade not to be missed during your next stay with us!

AGUNG VOLCANO: WHAT’S UP?

4 December 2017/in Bali, Nature, News, People, Tours

It is extremely difficult to predict the behavior of a volcano. As far as Agung Volcano is concerned, the eruptive process already began with 3 eruptions last week. The worst scenario would be a pyroclastic eruption. But this would affect the slopes of the volcano only and for this risk, the authorities have already taken the necessary measures by defining a 7 to 15 km security perimeter around it in order to avoid reproducing the situation of the 1963 eruption where 1100 villagers living on the slopes of the volcano were killed.

Now the question is: should we, as tourists, come to Bali or not?

The answer is definitively yes because the pyroclastic risk is null as long as you respect the security perimeter. The only remaining issue is the cloud of ashes which can disrupt the air traffic. Since the first signs of activity in September, a lot of ashes have already been evacuated and Ngurah Raï airport has re-opened after only a few days of closure. More than 50 cities in the world are living close to an active volcano.

Because of its location 80 km from Agung volcano, the risk of being disturbed in Dajuma is really very weak. Moreover, in case of closure of the airport, we offer free stay for the extra days you would be obliged to spend with us or, if you prefer, we would take care of the re-routing of your flight from Java (Banyuwangi or Surabaya) and organise all the necessary transportation by car.

No reason why you should hesitate to come visiting us! We look forward to welcoming you soon! Have a nice trip to Bali!

I AM IN BALI NOW

23 October 2017/in Bali, News, People

A campaign with the slogan “I am in Bali now” was launched recently to encourage tourists to come to Bali despite the situation of Agung volcano which fortunately seems to return to slumber. Our guests were happy to participate in it by taking pictures showing their pleasure to be in Bali. By its location 80 km from the volcano, Dajuma is in a safe area where the risk of being disturbed by the volcano is anyway very weak. We wish you a very nice stay in the Island of the Gods!

AGUNG VOLCANO SITUATION

2 October 2017/in Bali, Dajuma, Nature, News

Out of 147 volcanoes in total, Indonesia has the largest number of historically active volcanoes (76), its total of 1,171 dated eruptions is only narrowly exceeded by Japan’s 1,274. (https://www.volcanodiscovery.com/indonesia.html)

Considered by the Balinese as the center of the world, the very sacred Mount Agung culminates at 3142 m. Its last eruption goes back to 1963, after more than 100 years of slumber.

Puri Dajuma being situated 80 km as the crow flies from Mount Agung the risk of being disturbed by the volcano is very weak.

As long as the Indonesian authorities decide to keep opened Bali’s Ngurah Rai international airport, which is also about 80 km from the volcano and with flights running as normal so far, we are pleased to welcome our guests in the safest and most comfortable way.

In the event of an eruption and ash clouds that could temporarily disrupt air travel, authorities have made preparations for flights to be diverted to seven regional airports, including on Java and Lombok islands. Dajuma being located at only 1h30 from the ferry to Java, it would be easy to get back home by flying from any airport in Java.

We wish you a lovely stay in the island of the Gods!
