Thank you Bruce and Frances

THANK YOU BRUCE AND FRANCES!

10 January 2022/in News

Once again, on the occasion of the New Year, our former customers and friends Bruce and Frances were kind enough to offer our staff a package containing among otherthings, rice, egg, oil and some treats for the kids, the latter one  at the request of their own grandchildren! A nice gift that delights the 45 families of our staff!
They already helped us in 2020, when no one imagined for a moment that the pandemic would still be active until now. Yet this is what happened!
A huge thank you dear Bruce and Frances for this generous gesture! We look forward to seeing you again soon!

HAPPY NEW YEAR 2022

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

1 January 2022/in News

Another “annus horribilis” has just ended. A year ago, when we exchanged vows, who could have imagined for a second that the pandemic would last this long. In this unprecedented context, it is very difficult to predict anything for 2022. Thanks to its staff and loyal customers, Dajuma has nevertheless managed to weather the crisis without damage and to view the new year in a more favorable light. We are therefore ready to welcome you in our little paradise in the best conditions of comfort and safety. This day, we are also happy to celebrate the retirement of Sabtu (first row 3rd from the left, white cap) after 19 years spent at Dajuma as a kitchen supervisor. We wish you Dear Sabtu a beautiful and happy retirement as active as possible!
On behalf of all our staff, we wish you a Happy and Healthy New Year 2022. We dream of seeing you again soon!

MERRY CHRISTMAS 2021

MERRY CHRISTMAS

25 December 2021/in News

Astari (Front Desk Officer) and Juliarta (Restaurant Supervisor) are happy, on behalf of the entire Dajuma team, to wish you and your families a Merry Christmas. Made from driftwood collected from the beach, our Christmas tree was created again this year by our staff. Due to the resurgence of the pandemic, this year like last year, Christmas will be limited to a minimum of festivities. However, all Dajuma staff are more than ready to welcome you in the best conditions of safety, comfort … and fun, so necessary in this troubled period. So, merry Christmas and see you soon in our little paradise!

MAGIC MOMENT AT DAJUMA

MAGIC MOMENT AT DAJUMA

20 December 2021/in News

This week Ukraine is in the spotlight in Dajuma. We had the pleasure of welcoming the Lukach family for two nights, who were happily surprised to receive a romantic dinner on the beach as a gift from one of their friends. This had not happened for a long time – the island having received only 45 foreign tourists in 2021 … against more than 6 million in 2019 (https://thebalisun.com/only-45-international-tourists-visited-bali-in-2021/). Needless to say, the Lukach family were particularly taken care of during this dinner. A special decoration was prepared by our gardeners while our Chef concocted one of his specialties. A magical moment!

BALINESE DELICACIES

BALINESE DELICACIES

13 December 2021/in News

This week we had the pleasure of welcoming one of our dear loyal customers who usually visits Bali once or twice a year. Like many other Bali lovers, he suffered from not being able to come for 18 months and, to the question, what did you miss the most during this period, the answer was instantaneous: the “nasi campur“, one of the delicious specialties of Bali with the rijsttafel. Our chef was quick to cook one as shown in the photo: on the plate a combination of the flavors of yellow rice, colored by turmeric (nasi kuning), tempe goreng, plain omelet (telur dadar), chicken shredded with red seasoning (ayam sisit), fried noodles (mie goreng) and shrimp crackers (kerupuk udang). A wonderful Balinese delight!

LETS DANCE FROM DAJUMA, BALI

LET’s DANCE

7 December 2021/in News

With the emergence of the Omicron variant, the prospects for a return to normalcy are fading again in Bali. For how long? Nobody knows it, but in Dajuma anyway, we do everything to welcome you in the best possible conditions, in terms of comfort and hygiene.
This week, we had the pleasure of welcoming a group of doctors and nurses who are on the front lines of the fight against the pandemic.
We would have liked to reconnect with the memorable Dajuma evenings organized around traditional dances accompanied by local orchestras. But distancing requires, it will be for the next time, just waiting for you!

FLAMBOYANT IS BLOOMING IN BALI

FLAMBOYANT IS BLOOMING IN BALI

29 November 2021/in News

There is a tree in South East Asia that is unlike any other in terms of size and beauty. Even its name is not ordinary. It is the Flamboyant which was borrowed from French into English in the 19th century, so aptly named because its immense racemes of scarlet and orange flowers that really resemble the flames of a fire. In Bali it is the season of their flowering and everywhere you can see their colorful conflagration. In Dajuma, we particularly like this tree native to Madagascar. Our gardeners take special care of it and will be delighted to present it to you during your next stay, which we hope to be near!

BEAUTIFUL HANDICRAFT IN BALI

BEAUTIFUL HANDICRAFT IN BALI

22 November 2021/in News

Handicraft is one of the many facets of Balinese culture. In all villages one can find craftsman able to create lovely objects by working stone, wood, leather, grass or shells.
Close to Dajuma, is the village of Medewi, renowned for its surfing spot but not only. This week, we are happy to honor Yudi who, for 6 years, has been making magnificent pieces of craftsmanship that he sells from his worshop in Medewi by the main road, but also on the Internet. He also send his products to some art shops in Ubud, Kuta and many more. With his workers, he creates nice products made of grass (they said rapiah grass), yarns, and some shell. On the picture is Marwan one of the worker. An interesting place to visit to appreciate the creativity and skill of Balinese artisans next time you visit us!

IT'S THE BALINESE NEW YEAR

IT’S THE BALINESE NEW YEAR

15 November 2021/in News

From November 10 to 20, like every 210 days, Bali celebrates the Balinese New Year with 2 major highlights called Galungan (November 10) and Kunigan (November 20). During this festive period, all the gods of Bali, including Supreme Deity Sanghyang Widi, descend to earth to celebrate the creation of the universe and the victory of good over evil. The Balinese believe that their ancestors came back to earth to participate in the festivities, have fun, and enjoy the offerings.
To prepare Galungan, 6 days before, the Balinese carry out 2 purification rituals called Sugihan Jawa and Sugihan Bali. Sugihan Jawa has nothing to do with the island of Java and is called so because it was a tradition that originated from the Majapahit Empire. On this day, the Balinese present offerings to “cleanse” the universe (Bhuana Agung / Macrocosm) and usually come to the temples of the village (three main temples) to pray.
5 days before Galungan on a Friday, it is the Sugihan Bali ritual. It’s similar to Sugihan Jawa, but this time the Balinese “cleanse” themselves (Bhuana Alit / Microcosm) and pray at home. Both of these ceremonies are really important to do, indicating that we are ready to welcome Galungan with a clean and holy nature and spirit. In the photo, the majestic “penjors” which adorn the streets for Galungan. A masterpiece of beauty and spirituality!

DAJUMA ESCAPADES - NOSTALGIA OF THE RICE FIELDS

DAJUMA ESCAPADES: NOSTALGIA OF THE RICE FIELDS

9 November 2021/in News

Bali is also famous for the beauty of its rice fields. The pandemic crisis has made us nostalgic about this. In Dajuma, we are fortunate to be surrounded by magnificent rice fields which are cultivated all year round with several harvests per year, depending on climatic conditions. What makes them special is the proximity of the volcanic slopes and the sea. We therefore offer several excursions in total immersion with local farmers who teach us how to plant or harvest rice. Parents and children love to discover the practices of this ancestral culture. Would you like to try?
