NYEPI CELEBRATION AT DAJUMA

NYEPI CELEBRATION AT DAJUMA

31 March 2025/in News

Nyepi, Bali’s Day of Silence, took place on March 29th, bringing the entire island to a standstill. This sacred Hindu celebration marks the Balinese New Year with a full day of self-reflection, silence, and meditation. From sunrise to sunrise, no one is allowed to leave their homes, work, or even use lights, creating an atmosphere of deep introspection. The airport, roads, and businesses shut down completely, making Bali the quietest place on Earth. The day before, vibrant Ogoh-Ogoh parades fill the streets with giant demon effigies, symbolizing the cleansing of negative energies. On Nyepi itself, people fast, pray, and contemplate their actions over the past year. It is a time to reconnect with oneself and nature while seeking harmony with the universe. Even our guests must respect the silence, experiencing an unparalleled moment of peace. Nyepi is not just a religious ritual—it’s a powerful reminder to pause, reflect, and renew.

RICE HARVESTING AT DAJUMA TERRACE

RICE HARVESTING AT DAJUMA TERRACE

24 March 2025/in News

In front of Dajuma Terrace, rice harvesting unfolds in the pure Balinese tradition, captivating guests with its authenticity. Two skilled farmers begin by carefully cutting the golden stalks of mature rice, their rhythmic movements blending with the sounds of nature. They then beat the harvested stalks inside a wooden box, skillfully separating the precious grains from the chaff. Once the grains are collected, the remaining stalks are pushed back into the rice field, naturally enriching the soil for the next cycle. This time-honored process, passed down through generations, reflects the deep connection between Balinese farmers and their land. Guests at Dajuma often pause to admire the scene, drawn in by the harmony of tradition and sustainability. Some even join in, experiencing firsthand the joy and effort behind every grain of rice. It’s a rare opportunity to connect with local culture in an unforgettable way. The combination of hard work, wisdom, and nature’s rhythm makes this harvest a cherished moment at Dajuma Terrace.

VISIT OF PUPUAN SAWAH PRIMARY SCHOOL

VISIT OF PUPUAN SAWAH PRIMARY SCHOOL

17 March 2025/in News

As part of our eco-policy and our commitment to sustainability, we offer our guests various activities that connect them with local villagers—mainly farmers at Dajuma Terrace and fishermen at Dajuma Beach. One of the most popular experiences is the village walking tour, which allows guests to engage with the community, visit private houses and temples, explore the rice field irrigation system, observe prahu (traditional boat) construction, and, as a highlight, visit the local school. Last week, our guest Roland from Germany, had the opportunity to enjoy this enriching experience. Touched by their visit, he generously decided to gift a parcel to each pupil at the Pupuan Sawah school. Our colleague Gusti on the photo was in charge of conveying the parcels on behalf of Roland after his departure from Bali. Judging by the radiant smiles in the photos, it’s clear how meaningful this visit was for everyone involved!

A UNIQUE HERITAGE

A UNIQUE HERITAGE

3 March 2025/in News

Discover a unique heritage in West Bali, where the renowned Makepung buffalo races capture the spirit of tradition and competition. Just a few steps from Dajuma, our neighbor Pak Sudana raises an extraordinary breed of pink buffaloes, cared for in the purest Balinese traditions. Treated like true athletes, these buffaloes delight in daily beach strolls at sunset, adding a magical touch to the coastal landscape. Recently, a new pink buffalo was born, symbolizing the continuous legacy of this cultural treasure. Pak Sudana is passionate about sharing his world with our guests, inviting them on an immersive two-hour tour known as the “Pink Buffalo Walk”. This village-level conservation project not only celebrates Balinese heritage but also plays a vital role in preserving a species that is fast becoming extinct. Don’t miss this unforgettable experience on your next visit to Dajuma Beach!
