« Bunut Bolong »: a unique tree! Puri Dajuma, Beach Eco-Resort & Spa, West Bali

« Bunut Bolong »: a unique tree!

Starting from Puri Dajuma up to the North crossroad, climbing again 9 km and passing by the State plantation entrance, you will certainly make a stop at « Bunut Bolong ».
‘Bunut’ is the Balinese name for this kind of banyan-tree, ‘Bolong’ means hole: nothing to say when the hole is big enough to accommodate two cars crossing the tree together!
Impossible to cut it down and no means to build the road besides; it is a sacred tree, inhabited by spirits symbolized by two tigers.
Moreover the set of shrines with the tree honors the great sage Sidhi Mantra who happened to pass this area hundreds of years ago.
Long story, scenic road in the nature, unique display and few shops to drink and look at the place seated in the shadow: many assets for a nice stop.

PLASTIC RECYCLING IN BALI: A REVOLUTION… Puri Dajuma, Beach Eco-Resort & Spa, West Bali

PLASTIC RECYCLING IN BALI: A REVOLUTION…

Located in Tabanan, only 1 hour drive from Dajuma, is this new and unique company in Indonesia, called ENVIRO PALLETS which is able to recycle any plastic waste into pallets weighing 14 kg each, able to carry 4 tons without moving, 1,2 ton when moving. Originated from New Zealand and working with a patented process owned by Range International, this company produces already 500 to 600 pallets per day and they plan to have another factory in Surabaya. Their pallets are less expensive than the wood ones (good to know that 41% of the wood cut in the world is used to produce 4,6 billions of wood pallets and similar products every year!) They have already customers  abroad like Coca-Cola worldwide including another product for bottle cases. They buy the clean plastic only: 2000 Rp per kilo for the best quality (A) to 500 Rp for the worst one (D). But It is still hard for them to collect the plastic in Bali. We will do our best to promote this fantastic opportunity in Bali which completes our in house recycling process for glass bottles already operational.  It also makes our plastic recycling greener by avoiding to send our plastic to Java which was the case before.

DAJUMA REWARDED BY BOOKING.COM

When Booking.com started its operations in 1996 from Amsterdam, nobody could believe that, in less than 20 years, this small start-up would become the leader of on-line accomodation bookings! It is anyway what happened and we are quite happy to be rewarded this year by this dynamic company! With a score of 9,2/10 based on the reviews of the guests who really stayed at Dajuma, our staff deserve a special mention for their dedication and the quality of our service. Well done guys and thank you Booking.com and our guests!
