D-DAY-0 BIRTH OF PURI DAJUMA TERRACE

On the 1st of July, Puri Dajuma Terrace celebrated its grand opening, a momentous occasion that marked the end of three years of intense and dedicated work. The project was expertly overseen by our general manager, Alit, whose vision and leadership were instrumental in bringing this dream to life. A team of 20 highly skilled workers from Jawa, led by the diligent Muri and Selamat, worked tirelessly to ensure that every detail was perfect.

The grand opening was even made more special by the premiere of a stunning video shot by David Muller, the Swiss FPV drone piloting vice-champion. David’s exceptional skills captured the essence of Puri Dajuma Terrace, highlighting the fabulous rice fields that surround the property. His breathtaking footage showcased the natural beauty of the area, providing a unique perspective that left everyone in awe.

Guests were treated to an immersive experience as they explored the newly opened terrace. The harmonious blend of traditional Balinese craftsmanship and modern amenities was evident in every corner, reflecting the dedication and hard work of the entire team. The lush rice fields provided a serene and picturesque backdrop, enhancing the sense of tranquility and natural beauty. The stunning video by David Muller will continue to be a visual reminder of the beauty and potential of this remarkable place, attracting visitors from near and far to experience its charm.

DAJUMA TERRACE: J-160 DAYS

At J-160 days from the grand opening, the brand new Dajuma Beach brother called “Puri Dajuma Terrace“,  in the picturesque rice fields of Pupuan Sawah, is making remarkable strides. With our dedicated construction team led by Muri and under the careful supervision of our General Manager Alit, substantial progress has been achieved. Fourteen rooms are nearly completed, along with two villas and their private pools and an impressive grand swimming pool. The lobby, restaurant, shala, and spa are the remaining focal points of our development, eagerly awaiting their finishing. We take pride of our partnership  since 15 years with a committed team that consistently delivers on its promises, ensuring the success of this exciting venture. RICE FARMING FOR EVER

6 years ago, the Renaud family from Switzerland stayed with us for a long time, very happy to discover this wild part of Bali and especially our rice farming activity. What a surprise for us to welcome them again this year! They not only came to stay with us, but also rebooked the same rice farming tour, which they say left them with so many good memories, especially for the children. They also brought photos from their first rice farming experience and they shared them with the farmers. They even took photos with the same poses as they did in the past. The two little children have now grown into strong and handsome teenagers. Enjoy your stay dear friends!

RICE FARMING EXPERIENCE

Among the many Bali discovery activities offered by the hotel, there is one particularly appreciated by our guests: the rice farming experience. That’s what the UK’s Marsden family chose to do last week in a rice field located a few km from Dajuma. Welcomed by local farmers belonging to the family of one of our employees, they discovered how Balinese farmers go about cultivating rice, from plowing the rice field with a special ox-drawn plow to installing rice plants, all in a good mood! They enjoyed a lot this so unusual experience. Why don’t you try it next time you visit us?

DAJUMA ESCAPADES: NOSTALGIA OF THE RICE FIELDS

Bali is also famous for the beauty of its rice fields. The pandemic crisis has made us nostalgic about this. In Dajuma, we are fortunate to be surrounded by magnificent rice fields which are cultivated all year round with several harvests per year, depending on climatic conditions. What makes them special is the proximity of the volcanic slopes and the sea. We therefore offer several excursions in total immersion with local farmers who teach us how to plant or harvest rice. Parents and children love to discover the practices of this ancestral culture. Would you like to try?

NEW CYCLING TOUR “TEMBLES”

Is there anything more authentic than discovering a new place by cycling? At Dajuma we encourage as much as possible this way of visiting our area where, behind each curve of the small roads, there is something ubuffanbuffaique to discover. Let’s take an example with our brand new tour called “Tembles Discovery”.  You start from Dajuma around 8 a.m. in our adventure jeep, the bicycles in the back. After 30 mn drive you reach a traditional Balinese village called Tembles which is the starting point of your cycling tour along the rice fields. You will visit the House of Jegog (traditional music from West Bali), the village primary school, the traditional market and the very holy Rambut Siwi Temple at the end. You are back at Dajuma around 12, ready for the lunch.

DAJUMA ECO EXPERIENCES: RICE FARMING

Rice paddies are for westerners just fascinating. Probably because they are the perfect expression of this so rare harmony between people and nature. By shaping, generation after generation, these beautiful curves perfectly integrated in the landscapes, with volcanoes on one side and the sea on the other, Balinese farmers are the worthy heirs of a long tradition of rice cultivation.
We regularly invite our guests to live a unique experience by sharing the life of one of our neighbour farmer and learning how to plough the rice paddy and plant the rice. On the picture a family from Switzerland is getting acquainted with the way to drive the cows during the preparation of the land and plant the rice just after. But you need to like to have the feet in the mud!

Subak in Bali: a unique rice-field irrigation system exciting to visit

A very interesting curiosity to visit in West Bali is the rice field irrigation system. It is called Subak and was developed more than 1,000 years ago. For Balinese people, irrigation is not simply providing water for the plant’s roots, but a holy activity which must be blessed by a priest. Water is also used to construct a complex artificial ecosystem where many species such as frogs and eels can develop.
From Dajuma, you will be invited to visit such a Subak, on the occasion of a bicycle tour around the nearby villages. A unique experience!
