DAJUMA ENVIRONMENTAL CHALLENGE

Last week, the beaches in front of Dajuma saw an effort in their regular cleaning schedules due to the aftermath of a substantial rainfall, which purged nearby rivers and deposited a significant amount of wood and plastic waste along the shoreline. This environmental challenge sparked a remarkable mobilization of the “Green Warriors”, a dedicated group of volunteers from surrounding villages. The beaches, which are usually maintained with great care by our staff, required this additional attention to manage the sudden influx of debris, ensuring that the sands were returned to their pristine state. Well done to our staff and all the volunteers involved—your dedication is truly inspiring!

UNFORGETTABLE DAJUMA SUNSETS

The beauty of sunset at Dajuma is a mesmerizing spectacle, captivating all who are fortunate enough to witness it. With its full West orientation, the sun gracefully descends, casting a warm, golden glow across the landscape. The sky transforms into a canvas of vibrant hues, from fiery oranges to soft pinks, creating a breathtaking panorama which delights our guests. As the sun dips below the horizon, it leaves behind a tranquil silhouette, painting the sea and the sky with a unique palette of colors. The sunset at Dajuma is not just a celestial event; it’s a serene and unforgettable moment that etches itself into the hearts of our guests.

BIRTH OF MANY TURTLES LAST WEEK

On the eastern side of Dajuma is a beach where sea turtles are used to laying their eggs overnight. For 22 years, we have been used to shelter them from predators by bringing them to the Kurma Asih Turtle conservatory in Perancak, where our friend Komang knows how to take care of them until their hatching. This is what happened last week with an important hatching that made the joy of our Australian customers Deb and her husband Phil as well as little Célestin, very impressed to hold a baby turtle in his hand. They were very lucky to be able to attend the egg hatch and to accompany these small beings so fragile to the sea to start their life trip.

CLEANING THE BEACH IN DAJUMA

With the beginning of the rainy season, nature in Bali is cleaning up: the flow of the rivers increases enormously and leads to the sea a lot of dead wood which is a blessing for the villagers who use it in the kitchen but not only. Indeed, many pieces of wood have very beautiful shapes and essences that excite the creativity of Balinese artists. Thus are born real works particularly popular with tourists, decorative or utilitarian objects according to their inspiration.

KITE ON THE BEACH

The beach in front of Dajuma is an extraordinary playground for young and old. Protected by its volcanic cape which can be seen more than 300 m away at low tide, the beach offers all kinds of activities, from simple walks in giant potholes to coral rocks which aquatic life fascinates children, to other more sporting activities such as surfing, kite surfing, SUP, sailing or fishing at the cape or at sea with local fishermen. A wonderful world in itself so exotic! But among all these activities there is one very popular in Bali, the kite. All Balinese families do this activity and like to share it with our guests as the picture shows.

SUNSET IN PARADISE

Among its many assets, Dajuma has the advantage of sumptuous sunsets that can be admired, cocktail in hand, from your room or in the tropical garden. Thanks to its location on a volcanic cape facing due west, the sunsets are visible all year round without restriction. The past week has been particularly favorable from this point of view, with each evening a different kind of conflagration of the sky, very inspiring. Enjoy it!

BIRTHING SEASON FOR SEA TURTLES

For many years, Dajuma has actively supported the Marine Turtle Conservatory located in Perancak, 25 km from us. Many sea turtles lay their eggs on the beaches around Dajuma, but the risk of seeing them stolen or devoured by stray dogs or birds is great. So we encourage villagers and our staff to pick them up and bring them to the conservatory. Last week, many births took place. The children of our customers had the pleasure of bringing the baby turtles to the sea, in complete safety. Well done kids!

BEACHES AROUND DAJUMA, A WORLD IN ITSELF

When we go on vacation to the other side of the world, we attach a lot of importance, and rightly so, to the quality of the beaches of the hotel we have chosen: is it sand or rocks, clean and well maintained, is it light (coral) or dark (volcanic) sand? Dajuma, being located on a cape which is discovered at low tide for several hundred meters, is lucky to be surrounded by 3 very different beaches for all tastes: to the east, more than 20 km of fine sandy beaches almost virgin suitable for walking and jogging, to the west, the ocean is much calmer and a large sandy beach shared with local fishermen is suitable for swimming and body boarding. Between the two is the protective cape with its natural pots and corals which are discovered at low tide, a true paradise for children.

Now the question that often comes up: is the sand coral or volcanic? Well the answer is “both”. Indeed, depending on the tides and the times of the year, the ocean brings back either coral sand as shown in the photo, or volcanic sand, even softer to the feet and shining with a thousand lights.

Other questions that come up often: are they clean and what about sunsets? The answer is absolutely yes in both cases, because every day they are thoroughly cleaned by our staff. It is part of our eco-policy. The orientation of Dajuma being due west the sunsets are magnificent.

Last point to emphasize specific to Dajuma, we offer our guests massages on the beach in direct contact with the volcanic rock loaded with trace elements. Followed by a visit to the hammam and the hot tub of our spa, they guarantee you a perfect fitness! Welcome to our exciting Balinese beaches!
