Vacation time… Puri Dajuma, Beach Eco-Resort & Spa, West Bali

Vacation time…

7 July 2014/in Beach, Dajuma, News, People

There is no specific seasons in Bali, except the « rainy season » which is supposed to be between November and March, and dry season the rest of the year.
Fit for children in terms of size, activities and atmosphère, Puri Dajuma is happy to welcome many families from June to September: the vacation time.
Watching the cape from the big tree in front of the Rama restaurant, these young girls are too cute in the great landscape.

First Aid training

30 June 2014/in Dajuma, News, People

As part of our eco-policy, all Dajuma staff is invited every two years to participate in a  First Aid training aimed at ensuring the safest environment to our guests. This year the training was given by the doctors and the nurses from the closeby Negara Hospital. A necessary refresher course to remind gestures that can save a life if given at the right moment: artificial breathing, use of a defibrillator, securing of a broken bone, and many other things…

Bayu, Ayu and Ari celebrated their Mepetik ceremony

3 June 2014/in Culture, News, People

Bayu, one of our restaurant supervisor and the two children Ari and Ayu of our HR Manager Erly went last week through this important ceremony which takes place only one time in their life and called Mepetik. It consists in cutting the hair in such a way that your soul gets purified and ready for your adult’s life.
On the picture, Bayu, Ayu and Ari with the traditional Balinese dressing just received the blessing of the priest and the community.

New uniforms

22 April 2014/in Dajuma, News, People

Year 2014 also started with an important event for Dajuma staff : the change of the uniforms. Each employee received a new uniform composed of a nice batik for the top and the traditional sarong. The fabric was chosen strong and light with the objective to support heavy-duty tasks while providing the necessary comfort to our employees. Colors were also carefully chosen to fit with our environment. Padmi, our waitress at Rama restaurant, looks very « cantik » (pronounced « chantik » in Bahasa Indonesia which means « nice ») on the picture!

Natacha 6 months stay

7 April 2014/in Culture, Dajuma, News, People

After several stays at Dajuma in the last 2 years, Natacha, an executive woman from France, decided to make a break in her hectic professional career by staying for 6 months in Dajuma.
During this time she got more and more acquainted with the rich Balinese culture and traditions. She built a lot of friendly relationships with the staff and the villagers, and even participated in the outing to Jogjakarta with them.
«My living among Balinese people was the way to find the new spirit I was kooking for, we shared so much!”
Here on the picture, she is preparing some decorations, learning from Tini the head of the Spa how to create from the bamboo leaves these adorable suspending decorations.

The Magic Kris Puri Dajuma, Beach Eco-Resort & Spa, West Bali

The Magic Kris

17 February 2014/in Dajuma, News, People

Rev Martin Bieler was recently our guest for 2 weeks. Brilliant theologian from Switzerland, Martin has not only a passion for religion but also for knives from all around the world. He considers that knives are, since the dawn of time, the indispensable companion of the human being and that we can learn a lot about the culture and the people of a given country by studying their knives. The character of a people is reflected in the soul of a knife. This is definitively the case for the Balinese Kris (also called Keris) which is strongly associated with the culture of Indonesia. The kris is famous for its distinctive wavy blade (which has an energy like an active snake), although many have straight blades (which have an energy like a resting snake) as well. Both a weapon and a spiritual object, kris are often considered to have an essence or presence, considered to possess magical powers, with some blades possessing good luck and others possessing bad one. The kris can be divided into three parts: bilah (blade), hulu (hilt), and warangka (sheath). These parts of the kris are objects of art, often carved in meticulous detail and made from various materials: metal, precious or rare types of wood, or gold or ivory or even, and more rarely of meteorite metal. In 2005, UNESCO gave the title Masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity to the kris of Indonesia. In return, UNESCO urged Indonesia to preserve their heritage. On the picture, Rev Martin showing the kris he acquired in Tabanan, thanks to our guide Nyoman on the right.

One year already…

20 January 2014/in News, People

One year already that Indra passed away in a tragic accident. We received a lot of warm condolences from all around the world and we would like to thank all our guests and friends who shared our pain. Indra was a very special man: a great spirituality, a sincere attention to the people, a fantastic love of life were some of his numerous human assets. Among other functions in the hotel he was the official priest of the community. For sure, in his new life, he is even more special than in the previous one. We take good care of his family. We think of him … Om santi santi santi …

A new beautiful fountain at Dajuma

30 December 2013/in Dajuma, News, People

Balinese people are famous for their artistical skills and talents. This is very true for major arts such as painting, sculpture, music, dancing. At Dajuma it is also true for gardening. Our chief gardener Anom and his team have created probably one the most beautiful garden where the Dajuma cottages are nestled. Everyday, they clean it meticulously, make the necessary cuts, invent new floral arrangements. Anom is now very busy with the preparation of the New Year festivities. However he found some time to create a beautiful fountain, located nearby the lobby, entirely designed and built by himself and our fisherman neighbor. Many plants, 3 flows of water, fishes and their cave : a small landscape to watch at.

Cleaning the rubbish around Dajuma

16 December 2013/in Dajuma, Nature, News, People

In its eco-policy (http://www.dajuma.com/#eco-resort) Puri Dajuma pays a lot of attention, among other things, to the cleanliness of its natural environment. Every Friday morning, each department delegates 2 of its staff members to participate in the cleaning of the area by collecting all the rubbish mainly brought by the sea, from the East and West beaches up to the main road. This action is not only in favor of the environment but has also a strong connotation with the Balinese belief system called Tri Hita Karana which is centered on maintaining a harmonious relationship with God, People, and Nature. The philosophy of Tri Hita Karana affirms that happiness, prosperity, and peacefulness are attainable when the three elements of God, Human, and Nature coexist in harmony with each other in everyday life. On the picture, our First Chef Surianta (in orange), our Chief gardener Anom (with the cap) and in the background, behind Surianta, Rondy our Sales & Marketing manager for Asia. An intense moment of solidarity and harmony between our staff and the nature, often shared with our guests!
