A NICE CHRISTMAS GIFT AT DAJUMA

27 December 2023/in News

Dajuma marked a double celebration with exuberance as it commemorated its 21st anniversary, a jubilant milestone coinciding with the festive spirit of Christmas. The joyous gathering brought together 42 dedicated staff members, a testament to the enduring commitment of most, who have been an integral part of the Dajuma family since its inception in 2002. Each staff member received  a parcel, symbolizing gratitude and appreciation for their longstanding contributions. The confluence of the two celebrations in the garden, under the stars, created a harmonious atmosphere, echoing the spirit of unity and shared success that defines Dajuma’s journey!

CELEBRATION OF SARASWATI

18 December 2023/in News

Saraswati Day in Bali, celebrated on December 16th, is a vibrant cultural occasion dedicated to the goddess of knowledge, Saraswati. On this special day, the  people of our neighbour village, including our hindu staff, engage in a unique purification ritual, immersing themselves in the ocean in front of Dajuma during the early morning hours. The sea, considered sacred, becomes a purifying medium as locals partake in prayers and offer blessings to seek wisdom and enlightenment. The rhythmic sounds of traditional ceremonies and the sight of devotees in colorful attire create a mesmerizing scene, showcasing Bali’s rich cultural tapestry. It’s a day where spirituality and natural beauty intertwine, fostering a deep connection with tradition and the divine. Happy Saraswati day!

APPLE MANGO SEASON IN BALI

APPLE MANGO SEASON IN BALI

11 December 2023/in News

In Bali, the apple mango season brings a burst of tropical delight typically from November to March. These mangoes, medium to large in size, exhibit a unique round to ovate shape with gently curved ends, setting them apart from regular mango varieties. The apple mangoes in Bali are known for their exquisite taste, a harmonious blend of sweetness and slight tartness, creating a memorable flavor profile.
Unlike regular mangoes, the apple mango stands out with its thinner and smoother skin, giving it a distinct texture and a light, waxy feel. The fruits weigh between 280 to 580 grams, making them ideal for both snacking and culinary creations. As the season unfolds, the vibrant markets of Bali showcase these mangoes at their peak, drawing locals and tourists alike to indulge in the tropical goodness. The apple mango season not only marks a time of abundance but also a unique opportunity to savor a variety that stands out for its taste, texture, and visual appeal.
On the picture, in a nice home made bag built from coconut palms, some apple mangoes kindly offered by our neighbours Juerg and Rina. A delice!

DAJUMA OUTING 2023

13 November 2023/in News

After almost 3 years of stopping, it was time to reconnect with the famous outings of Dajuma staff. Our 42 employees therefore, in debut November, organized an outing in two groups to Banyuwangi and the famous Kawa Ijen volcano. The 2023 vintage was sporty: 3 days in all, devoted to 3 sports activities (the ascent of the volcano, rafting and snorkeling) and of course intense moment of sharing and fun around good tables! To do it again absolutely … without moderation. The well-being and camaraderie of our staff are important to us.

THE MAJESTIC COCONUT TREES OF BALI

THE MAJESTIC COCONUT TREES OF BALI

6 November 2023/in News

The coconut trees of Dajuma tropical garden stand tall and elegant, their slender trunks swaying gently in the tropical breeze. These trees hold a special place in Bali, not only for their aesthetic value but also for their deep cultural significance. They play an essential role in Balinese cuisine, especially in dishes like “lawar klungah,” where freshly grated coconut is a key ingredient, adding a creamy texture and nutty flavor to the dish. Additionally, coconuts are essential to Balinese cleansing ceremonies known as “Melukat”. The holy water used in these ceremonies often comes from coconuts, symbolizing purity and sacredness.
Coconut trees also offer a wide range of practical uses in Bali. Their leaves are woven into intricate offerings during temple ceremonies, their wood is used in construction, and coir from coconut husks is an indispensable material for crafts and mattresses. Beyond their tangible uses, these trees constitute symbols of abundance and life in Balinese culture, forming an integral part of the island’s identity and daily life.
