This year the celebrations of Christmas and New Year’s Day will be very special. They will be limited to the strict minimum by order of the authorities: no gathering of people and no festivities because of the risk of contamination by the corona virus.
We have nevertheless decorated the hotel with care for our guests who will feel at home while savouring a festive meal prepared by our chefs. A good alternative to partying isn’t it?

On December 9th, took place the election of the regent of Jembrana, which is one of the nine regencies (Kabupaten) of Bali where Dajuma is located. Jembrana occupies a specific place in Bali due to its natural treasures such as West Bali National Park, Rambut Siwi Temple, Menjangan Dive Spot, Medewi surf break and many more. Often described in the media as the most authentic and unspoiled part of Bali, Jembrana occupies an area of 842 km2 and has around 300,000 inhabitants spread over five districts (Kecamatan), Pekutatan being one of them. The lucky winners of this 2020 election are the tandem Mr. I Nengah Tamba (Regent) and Mr. I Gede Ngurah Patriana Krisna (Vice Regent) with the slogans “Jembrana Kembali Jaya” which means « Bring back the glory of Jembrana”. Congratulations!
The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy (Kemenparekraf) recently invited business players in the tourism sector to register for the CHSE Certification program (Cleanliness, Health, Safety & Environment Sustainability).
This new CHSE certification scheme serves as a guarantee for tourists and the public that the products and services provided meet hygiene, health, safety and environmental sustainability protocols. It is one of the strategies to face a period of adaptation to new habits in the tourism and creative economy sector.
After previously Dajuma had received a New Normal Adaptation certificate from the Jembrana Regent, now Dajuma has also registered in the Ministry of Tourism’s Creative Economy CHSE certification program.
On Monday, the officer conducted an audit of the requirements that the hotel must fulfill in order to obtain the certificate. From the results of the audit carried out, in the near future we will receive the certificate. It is one step further in favor of the protection of our natural and human environnement that we are particularly happy to achieve!

As Bali prepares to reopen its borders to foreign tourists in early 2021, Dajuma is delighted to welcome local families in the meantime who are taking full advantage of our facilities. They particularly like our Bendega infinity pool with its waterfall, its long swimming lane, its suspended whirlpool and… its slide. Not to mention the unforgettable sunsets that are so pleasant to contemplate while enjoying a delicious cocktail on the pool deck or on the beach directly. As an effort to help the tourism sector in Bali during the COVID-19 pandemic, the Bali Provincial Tourism Office in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy of the Republic of Indonesia is organizing Health Protocol Campaigns focused on Cleanliness, Health, Safety, and Environmental Sustainability from October to November 2020. They started on October 7th 2020 with a total of 400 participants involved in 10 sessions, including the visit of tourist attractions and the conduct of tourist activities. They enjoy the uniqueness of each tourist attraction and stay overnight in the area. In addition they learn the protocols ensuring the Cleanliness, Health, Safety, and Environment protection (CHSE).
Puri Dajuma is one of the hotels where the participants of the Bali Bangkit program stay for 1 night. During October and November, Puri Dajuma accommodates 10 different groups with 10 participants in each group. On the picture, the 6th Bali Bangkit Group took a picture in the lobby before they leave the hotel, wearing a mask and maintaining a safe distance.
In recent weeks, our cooks have been particularly inventive in preparing amazing snacks served during seminars held in Dajuma.
Not only are they delicious to eat, they are also great looking and very healthy.
They are served twice during the meetings’ coffee breaks, in the morning as a welcome dish and after lunch.
The pictures show 2 examples recently served to our guests: the first one consists of Japanese soybeans (kedelai edamme), dragon fruit pudding in a glass, and traditional Balinese cake (klepon) in purple color while the second one consist of 3 crackers, called melinjo (fruit crackers), balinese flower cake (apem), and rice cake (wajik) with palm sugar. This week, Dajuma was again trusted by the Jembrana Regency Government as a venue for training held by the Jembrana Tourism Department, with the theme of optimizing the quality and management of tourist accommodation (homestay/cottage). The training lasts for 3 days, with 2 days of seminars at Dajuma and the last day visiting tourist attractions in Belimbing Sari Village. The training participants were representatives of tourism awareness community, tourism business managers from 10 villages in Jembrana, with a total of 60 participants. This training aims to increase the role of the community in the tourism sector, as well as how managing tourist accommodation (homestay/cottage), how to manage and promote it in the digital era. All participants follow the training while still adhering to the applicable health protocols.
It did not happen for some months, a joyful party took place in Dajuma last week to celebrate the 50th Kellie’s birthday. 18 adults and 10 kids, mostly originated from USA, Australia, UK, Columbia, all being expats living in Bali for years, did participate in the party. But the best is to leave Kellie comment with inspiration the extraordinary situation we are going through: “I feel fortunate that my family can be here right now. Bali is a good place to be during the pandemic. The world is under stress, and Bali too, but here we (everyone) can take the time to slow down and start planning a better routed future. I hope that is the case. My family has been enjoying more places like Dajuma during these quiet times, we have spent time getting to better know our neighbors and community members. It is an excellent time to shop locally and support our communities. There is no place I would rather be.” Happy birthday Dear Kellie!
Jembrana is one of the 8 regencies of Bali where Dajuma is located. Its society will soon hold the regent and the vice regent election. On December 9 the community will use their voting rights to elect the head of Jembrana for the next 5 years. Two pairs of candidates will compete for this election which needs a lot of preparations. The Jembrana’s general election commission who’s responsible for the success of the elections, have some meeting agendas to prepare many things about the elections, such as verify the data of the voters and many more. One of the open plenary meeting was held in Dajuma, with the agenda of recapitulating and determining the final voters lists. All the meeting participants are following the health protocol, wearing mask and keep their distance as shown on the picture.
This time, it seems that the start of the highway project between Gilimanuk and Denpasar will finally see the light of day in Q4 2021, despite the pandemic crisis.
Concretely, this 95 km project will be divided into 3 sections: the first from our place, Pekutatan, until Soka, the second from Soka to Mengwi badung and the last from Gillimanuk to Pekutatan.
It will radically change the way goods are transported between Java and Bali with a very positive impact on traffic jams and road pollution.
From Dajuma’s perspective, we see this project in a very positive light. Not only will this shorten the journey to the airport to less than an hour but, more importantly for our guests visiting Bali, they will rediscover the beautiful back roads deserted by trucks.
Paradoxically, this highway will allow tourists to rediscover the Bali of yesteryear and at the same time to propel the island into modernity. Just a dream!
