Among our beach activities which cover swimming, fishing, snorkeling, diving, kayaking, sailing, SUP, bodyboarding, there is one which is particularly appreciated by our guests: surfing. Why? For 3 main reasons: the West beach of Dajuma is just ideal to learn. The waves are not too strong and the sandy beach is never a problem when you fall down, which is frequent when you start this demanding sport. The second reason is the proximity of a world class surfing spot called Medewi, situated a few minutes from Dajuma. Last but not least reason, is the presence of our surf instructor Jupri who will take care of you throughout the learning process.

“OPEN-BED” NEW PROCEDURE AT DAJUMA

Great start for Dajuma this year with a new procedure aimed at improving the comfort of our guests. Every day, around 6:00 p.m. our housekeeping staff prepares the beds of our guests by adjusting and cleaning sheets and pillows and installing if necessary the mosquito net after having checked the absence of insects inside. At the end, some frangipani flowers are disposed on the bed, bringing their delicate fragrance. A good way to have a revigorating night in a fresh and fragrant atmosphere! Last Friday, our guests (Anna and Robert from the Netherlands) had a great experience with the villagers surrounding Dajuma. The Police in Jembrana Regency together with the authorities of Pekutatan sub-district held an event entitled “Planting a Thousand Trees”, to regenerate forests, keep the sustainability of the forests for the next generations and to prevent the disasters (floods, landslides and droughts). It took place in the forest around Pulukan Village. Authorities invited the representatives from all institutions in the whole Pekutatan sub-districts (students, medical personnel, army, villagers from each village in Pekutatan territory) as well as representatives of tourism industry. We invited our guests to join in the event and they were very excited to be involved. After finished the program we walked along the village, Anna and Robert were very happy to see the real life of Balinese village.

Recently, Dajuma had the great pleasure of hosting a group from Romania. Around the organizers, Ruxandra, Ciprian (www.masterymeditationretreats.com), and Hindu priests from Bali, more than fourty participants initiated themselves to the practice of yoga and meditation according to the 3 principles of Tri Hita Karana, the famous traditional philosophy of Bali: harmony with the Gods, harmony with nature and harmony between humans. A great moment of sharing, very symbolic in this beginning of the year!

Very festive atmosphere this December 31st in Dajuma to celebrate the new year! Around a delicious “Babi Guling” (grilled pig) more than 70 guests shared the last hours of the year in a varied musical atmosphere, alternating Jegog, modern songs and traditional dances. On the last strokes of midnight, they exchanged their wishes under the stars while a magnificent fireworks was fired from the beach. All Dajuma staff wishes you a very happy 2019!

This year, both events will occur almost together, Galungan being on December 26th. By celebrating the victory of Dharma over Adharma, Galungan marks the time when the ancestral spirits visit the Earth. The last day of the celebration is Kuningan 10 days later, when they return. Galungan also marks the beginning of a new year in the 210-day Balinese calendar.

This year, Dajuma will celebrate with a lot of festivities, not only Christmas and the New Year but also Galungan and Kuningan which are almost at the same dates respectively December 26th for Galungan and January 5th for Kuningan, 10 days of celebration of the Balinese New Year which lasts 210 days in the Pawukon calendar.

What a strange fruit this Dragon Fruit, also known as Pitaya in the Americas! It is one of these emblematic tropical fruits from the cactus which makes so surprised our guests from abroad. Surprise because of its external appearance looking like a flame, and second surprise when opening it, either white or pink inside with its crunchy seeds!
During the rainy season, we are used to serve the dragon fruits in three different manners: on fruit platter, as fresh juices or as jam with cinnamon.
Regularly, some guests who really like our dragon fruit homemade jam with cinnamon want to bring back home some as a souvenir. Don’t miss to taste this delicious fruit next time you visit us!

It is now a tradition, Dajuma family had the pleasure to discover Bromo and the city of Surabaya on the occasion of their biannual outing.
3 days vacation dedicated to the discovery of one of the most beautiful sites in the world, the famous caldera of the Bromo volcano and the second city of Indonesia often cited as the economic capital city of the country. Split into two groups of approximately 25 people, they left around 6 p.m., to reach Bromo on sunrise. For most of our staff, this journey was for the first time in their life. Needless to say that the spectacular landscape of Bromo will be kept in their heart for ever. Another 3 hours drive in the comfortable bus especially chartered on this occasion and they reached the hectic and exciting Surabaya where the main monuments and attractions were visited the next days. Everybody came back safely with a large smile on their faces!

After two months of intensive concertation between our 8 cooks and their 3 leaders, Paul, Rudi and Dedi, the babies were born in top form! Three menus were hence created for our Rama, Shinta and Bendega restaurants. Very varied and full of inventions, they give an increasingly important place for vegetarian dishes and local specialties. Each dish has been deeply evaluated in terms of freshness, texture, taste and presentation. Moreover, everyday, a dish-of-the-day is proposed to our guests, which recipe is decided very early in the morning depending on the market.
