All of Bali celebrated Galungan and Kuningan from November 19th to 29th—ten days of festivities welcoming the gods and ancestors to earth (Galungan) until their return on Kuningan (November 29th). This sacred celebration takes place every 210 days according to the Balinese calendar. It is a joyful period when families gather and villages are beautifully adorned with penjor—the graceful bamboo offerings lining the streets. Our guests are always fascinated by the way Balinese people honor their gods and ancestors through abundant prayers and offerings in family compounds and village temples.
