Just last week, our guests Juergen, Gabriele, and Claudia had an unforgettable experience joining local villagers in this age-old tradition. They learned how to harvest rice using traditional tools and techniques, gaining a deeper appreciation for the Balinese way of life. The activity offered not only a meaningful cultural connection but also the joy of warm interaction with the community and breathtaking views of the surrounding rice fields.

Who hasn’t dreamt of exploring the jungle from the top of a rugged 4-wheel drive vehicle?
At Dajuma Beach, we bring that dream to life with our unique tour: “Ecotourism at Pekutatan”. Just next door to the hotel lies a vast state-owned plantation spanning over 1,000 hectares—a stunning blend of wild jungle and cultivated land. The adventure begins with a stop to witness how traditional palm sugar is made directly from palm trees. The journey then continues through riverbeds and plantations filled with coconuts, bananas, papayas, and rubber trees. Further along, guests will arrive at the heights of Bunut Bolong, where a one-hour trek unfolds along scenic paths bordered by coffee, rambutan, durian, vanilla and pineapple plants. The experience concludes with a relaxing lunch at a traditional warung set 400 meters above sea level, offering breathtaking panoramic views of the ocean. An exciting and enriching activity—perfect for both kids and adults.

Last week, we had the pleasure of welcoming Mr. Reinout Joannes and his wife to Dajuma Terrace for a six-night stay. Eager to delve into the secrets of Balinese cuisine, they chose to participate in our traditional Balinese cooking class. During the session, they were introduced to a rich array of Indonesian spices, seasonings, and traditional cooking techniques. The menu featured several classic dishes, including our signature Sate Lilit Jukut Ares—a flavorful satay made with banana stem and aromatic herbs—as well as popular Indonesian favorites like spring rolls and a hearty Rendang bowl. Guided by our talented Chef Suta and his team, the couple showed great enthusiasm and curiosity. They asked thoughtful questions, carefully followed each step, and especially enjoyed the hands-on process of shaping the satay, which deepened their appreciation for Balinese culinary traditions. At the end of the class, Mr. Reinout and his wife were delighted to savor the fruits of their labor. They expressed sincere satisfaction and gratitude to our team, making it a truly rewarding experience for everyone involved.

The Kawa Ijen tour offered by Dajuma Beach is a once-in-a-lifetime adventure that feels like stepping onto another planet. This what happened last week to our guests Nicole & Caner from Switzerland. Departing at 11 PM, the journey takes you through the night to reach the crater’s rim around 4 AM. Just in time, you’ll witness the mesmerizing blue flames of sulfur igniting as they meet the oxygen-rich air. This otherworldly phenomenon lights up the darkness in an unforgettable way. The atmosphere is surreal — you can almost feel the earth breathing beneath your feet. The surrounding rocks resemble lunar landscapes, rugged and alien. The acid lake at the crater’s base glows an eerie green, adding to the cosmic feel. It’s a raw, powerful experience of nature’s extremes. Guided by experienced locals, the tour is both safe and magical. A must-do for adventurous souls staying at Dajuma Beach.
