A NEW CONSERVATION INITIATIVE IN BALI
Our General Manager, Rondy, recently attended a baby turtle release event organized by Jagat Kerthi Turtle Conservation, a newly established group in Pekutatan dedicated to protecting sea turtles and their natural habitat.
Founded in March last year by five concerned local residents, this grassroots initiative has been steadily growing. Along the beaches of Pekutatan, it is common to find sea turtle nests during the breeding season, particularly those of the leatherback turtle (penyu belimbing) and the olive ridley turtle (penyu lekang).
Just last week, the group received valuable support from the national electricity company PLN. In collaboration with the local government—including Regent Kembang Hartawan—PLN representatives, hotel delegates, and tourism stakeholders were invited to take part in this special release ceremony.
The funds granted by PLN will go toward the construction of permanent conservation facilities, including a hatchery, pools for newly hatched turtles, and an administrative office—helping to ensure the long-term success of the project.
